question about older songs?
« on: April 10, 2012, 12:15:01 PM »

since that thread with the list of all the songs was taken down, i find it SO confusing not only to know all of TDD and AP songs, but to know which i CAN find and CAN have. it's all so mysterious.

i saw a thread a while ago about a demo CD of songs of hers that was available with some songs. but then i think i remember seeing that it COULDN'T be shared, even though people did share it.

and then i saw a thead saying these songs:

Quote
Amanda Solo - Demo Songs

Bad Habit
Bluesboy
Echo Gallery
"Follow"
June is Busting Out All Over
Mary's Surgeon
Provanity
Sandy's Song

could be shared. if that is still true, where can i find them? were they on this demo?

Where did you see that those songs were fair game? Perhaps it was that they're out there and people know about them?

They were floating around as available recordings, not exactly 'shareable', but they were on automaticjoy or TDBD.
However Follow wasn't one of them, that's never been widely circulated.

It may feel that way, but that certainly is not the case.

There are people who have had the songs (how they got them, who's to say?) but they've never been widely circulated.

As Shane said, they were all on automaticjoy at one point (except for follow). If that's not widely circulated, I don't know what is.

Clarification - by widely circulated, i mean such in an official capacity.

You'll have to wait for the Box-Set....  ca.2019 or 2020.

There were links to both automatic joy & the dirty business brigade on the official DD website. It can't be much more accessible than that... That's how I found the songs. I never even went looking for them. I just saw a link on the DD website that said something like "go here for lots of music" or something. Back then (2005 I think?) everyone had those songs. And no one ever said anything about it being not ok to share them. They linked to the songs themselves...

I was mostly reacting to "(how they got them, who's to say?)" because it was pretty obvious how everyone got them, regardless the definition of "widely circulated". Of course they can change their mind, but they can't make people delete the older songs. I also think it's pretty ridiculous to make songs unshareable when half the shadowbox has them anyway (and got them "legally", or without anyone telling them not to)
