Hello. For those who aren't familiar with Bob Lefsetz, he's a music industry insider who has written a blog for many years. I sometimes want to choke him, but sometimes he hits the nail on the head like none other. Anyway, he wrote this, which led to a lot of people in the industry writing him with replies. Sometimes, he posts a bunch of these replies to his e-mail list but not to the web site. Lo and behold, somebody you all might know replied to that blog entry. I've copied and pasted the reply below.

try being on a bus on a european tour with a teeny fucking suitcase when a fan brings you a 5 foot painting covered in glass in a frame and INSISTS you fucking take it with you.
i ask them to mail it. they say
no! I MADE THIS FOR YOU! (insert european accent of choice)
and i'm like I'M IN A TOUR BUS AND DONT HAVE ROOM FOR IT
and they're like
AAAHHHH BUT YOU MUST TAKE IT PLEEEASSSEEE
and so i do and wind up getting very creative with where the art winds up being housed.
this has happened multiple times.

Just wanted to log in and post that. :) If anybody out there actually is working on a 20'x20' mural for Amanda, I'm sure she appreciates it. I'm sure she'd appreciate it even more if you have it shipped, seeing as how all that stuff has to be shipped back on the flight home (expensive as fuck) or thrown away (sad, but hey, I doubt rubber band stacks come with any of the artwork).

Merci.

:) welcome back Doug and thank you for posting this. Lefsetz has published quite a few things from (or about) Amanda in the last year or so in his letters (or email replies) and it's always nice to see a random mention pop up.

But yes, amazing artwork that's hard to travel with is a thing. I think during the Evelyn Evelyn tour in 2010 someone gave Amanda a toy piano... while it was a wonderful gesture, it can be quite tricky to travel across the country with a toy piano, heh.

Speaking of submitting art - Scanned art submissions are of course the easiest to "house" and ensures that it will not get ruined, lost or broken during travel while Amanda is on the road. If a scan is sent to art@amandapalmer.net it also makes it easier for Amanda to share the art with Twitter, her blog, her mailer etc. and consider for future projects that she needs artwork for.  However, if it's important to you to send Amanda an original piece of art, the best thing to do is to mail it and the appropriate mailing address can be found on the Contact page of Amanda's website: http://www.amandapalmer.net/connect/contact

Lefsetz published Amanda's letter about Kickstarter. I posted it in the new album thread:
