The Dresden Dolls' Daytrotter Session

In Fall 2010 during their 10 year anniversary tour The Dresden Dolls made a stop at Daytrotter to record a session. For those of you unfamiliar with Daytrotter, they have a couple barn studios where they invite up & coming and indie bands to stop by and play a few songs on borrowed instruments and then release the tracks on their website with hand drawn artwork.

Today, nearly a year and a half after it was recorded, Daytrotter has finally released the Dolls' session, check it out.

The first thought that went through my head when I woke up was "how many happy endings do you need to change your fucking mind?"

I love this session because it's raw and live, but not in front of an audience, so it feels relaxed and loose. Amanda's voice is ragged but there's a senses of intimacy. It feels like 4 AM at the afterparty and they've discovered a piano & drums in the basement.
