I honestly think “theatre” just sounds much more theatrical.

Plus, I always associate “theater” with the place and “theatre” with the art. Thought this is probably just weird foreigner-thinking.

I agree with you.  I picked "theatre" but being American I always spell it "theater" because I don't want to confuse people...

Also, one is considered evil over the other? That's news to me.

I don't understand why theatre is pretentious, is it the English thing? I always thought we were more quirky :P

Give the Americans some credit...most of us can figure out the difference between theater/theatre, favorite/favourite, and color/colour without getting baffled. For me, it's always been theatre. And no...I don't think it's pretentious.

theater - for movies and popcorn
theatre - for fur coats, kiminos, and drama

I am an American, but I don't think you can have the Grand Theft Orchestra go to the theater.  They go to the theatre.  Maybe if it was the "Guitar Hero Rock Band".

and the album title should be LIVE THEATRE EVIL

I've always associated "theater" as the building or place, and "theatre" as the artform, but I'm an American that lived in Europe as a child, & I also cross my 7's & z's.#oddduck

I would definitely go for this: "THEATER/RE IS EVIL" :D

This is kinda playful and nobody can complain.

Definitely theatre. "Theater" sounds like a place you see American action movies. Theatre sounds like a place you see art.
