Honestly, maybe it's the dyslexic part of me, but I never actually realised that the Yanks and the Brits spelled it differently. :uglystupid2:

I just like the way "Theatre" looks better. Perhaps that's because I grew up with it that way, but it's definitely my preference.

"Theatre" looks better overall, but not at the beginning of a sentence/title. That's why I voted "Theater."

Theatre, all the way... Longtemps vivre le théâtre diabolique!

théâtre diabolique

is a great name for an album.  Just like that, all lowercase.

I've worked in theatre for 7 years. All through high school, at professionally for 3. The consensus is:

You see Shakespeare in a theatre. You see Die Hard in a theater.

Registered to say this:  Theater is screen, Theatre is stage; thus my teacher told me.  There are comments here that imply stage is better art than screen.  I disagree.

That said, I didn't vote on the album title.  Either would work.

I'm afraid I do not yet understand the “nine layers of irony”. Sure, Amanda and her band do theatre, so it's contradictory for them to say that. The very act of saying something so treacherous and outrageous is theatre too, I assume. What else?

It might make sense in context and with time, I suppose. I don't think it's a bad one.

Yeah i've always thought of it as theatre = live performance, theater = movies so to me theatre makes more sense for the title.

Theatre looks prettier. Surely that's a good enough reason?

this title is so stupid...I love Amanda and all three songs so far, but I am 100% disappointed by this title. this is actuall th first and only time I've ever felt let down by Amanda.

it's just SUCH a dumb, forgettable title. it would even be a bad song name, bu the title of an ALBUM?! idk, I'm lronanl going to renAme my iTunes version of the album...theatre is evil is just atrocious

this is a really poor choice of a "first and only" of amanda's decisions to be upset about.

even i barely give a fuck and i always have something hateful to say.

I think it should have just been a self-titled album. Just Amanda Palmer & The Grand Theft Orchestra would have been good.
i'd been so excited the past month with how the whole kickstarter thing was going, that i forgot all about the album needing a title. i just can't wait to hold it in my hands, and honestly when amanda tweeted that she was about to reveal the title i thought to myself "oh yeah, that's what we didn't know already, cool..."
i agree though that at that point the title is the last thing i'm thinking about

And I don't like the title at all, but who really cares?
I think it should have just been a self-titled album. Just Amanda Palmer & The Grand Theft Orchestra would have been good.

Self-titled would have been preferable.
But whatever. All I care about is the music and the goodies that come with it. A few words don't make a difference.

I guess I'm only disappointed after she tweeted about having the world's greatest/funniest album title, or something to that effect. I'm missing the "nine layers of irony" too, cos all I get is that her and the band "do" theatre, but... idk. It just seems odd. Yes, Virginia and Who Killed Amanda Palmer? both have a ring to them. Theater/re Is Evil sounds... less? I don't know. Maybe it'll grow on me. It probably will.
