My flatmate and her boyfriend are fighting again. It stopped for a while, but it's been coming back, and I'm really quite worried for her safety but I don't know what to do.

It's a tough situation trying to help a friend who is/may be in an abusive relationship. There are a ton of really fine lines that are easy to cross. I hope things work out because that is really scary for both of you.

I saw that picture from Simpsons of Milhouse saying "You don't want me, but you don't want anyone else to have me. How miserable do I have to be before you're happy?"
My answer to my ex would be "Keep going and I'll tell you when, now cry please"

I can't tell whether my tuition fees are going up or not I was just on the student finance website and it was saying that my tuition fees could be as much as £9000, but they're still only offering £3000 or so as a loan. I emailed the university finance office to check, because I can't even get my head round it. I was under the impression that tuition fees wouldn't go up if you were a returning student, but all the information I can find on it is for new students so that's no help. Now I'm just sitting on an answer from the finance office, I guess.

For the longest time I was on a happy high, and I was so scared that my depression would come back. There is a long history of depression, and possibly bi-polar disease, in my family. But I lived on this happy high for so long and then on Friday afternoon in class I had this wave of sadness hit me and I started tearing up in class. Luckily no one saw, so I quickly left to go to the washroom and I cried and cried in the stall while someone next to me was taking a big dump. I'm fine now, but I'm really scared that it'll come back.

^I can kind of relate.
I cried for the first time in a long time (maybe this year) last week, but I think it coming from a mildly different place than usual.
I'm trying out a lot of different ways of looking at things as time goes on to find a way to directly process and deal with things in my life.
A lot of the time I do things purposely to make myself cry actually, not like self destructive things. I watch episodes of TV shows that I know will make me cry, such as the episode of Golden Girls where Rose talks to her dead husband out loud, or the episode of Dead like Me where Betty leaves. I just finished reading a blog post critical anaylsis of Daria, crying my eyes out even for that.

Indja, your fees won't be increasing. It was explicitly for students beginning their first year in 2011. The message will be general for all undergraduates. Doesn't hurt to check with your office, but we've signed contracts in 2010 to pay 3 grand a year, so they can't change the fees for us.

That's what I figured. Just got confused on the student finance website.

Man, that really sucks for the new students, though. Only a couple of years birth difference and they end up getting more screwed

^It's like they draw their energy from the rage and fury they cause. Have you ever read Good Omens? I just finished it, and I can't help be reminded of Crowley the demon's love of cold callers, because they annoy so many people and those people take out their annoyance on other people, and with very little help from hell there are thousands of souls up and down the country that are just a little more tarnished than they would be without the cold callers. I imagine he'd feel much the same about student finance.

Anyway, it turns out they aren't changing the fees so my loan will cover it. I kind of figured it was just a mistake, but it was worth checking just in case.
