My uncle is gone, but it didn't really ruin my day. It was about time his suffering finally ended. I hope he's in a better place now, and that his family goes through a healthy mourning process.

May he rest in peace :(

indeed.   :(
yes :-/

what ruined my day was finding out that out of the only two courses i had left to finish (i.e. handing in my final papers)  for getting my bachelors degree i have already failed one, because i didn't send the professor the paper in time.... i mean i knew she wanted it by the 14th april, but the semester officially ends on the 30th, so usually they only grade you after that (although, of course, legally, they don't have to wait). but i was still working on my paper today before seeing my grade, because i thought i could send it to her this week and hopefully convince her that she should still take it and grade it quickly. sure, there was no guarantee, but they hardly ever are that strict (most of the time if you don't hand it in, they just don't grade you at all, instead of letting you fail(i have taken this exact course twice beforealready  but couldn't finish it because of sickness and never got a grade before)). and this time it is especially mean, since this was the last semester my uni offered my curriculum (due to bologna reforms...), so with not having every grade before the end of april there is no way i can get my BA anymore, and that stupid professor DOES know that it's the last possibility for every student inscribed in the old system.... i just checked. i have 94 out of 96 hours completed. gaaaaaah fucking bitch.

EDIT: sorry for the rant ;-) i was quite tired when i found out... it's time for me to do something other anyway, i just wish i didn't leave university like this.

You know Ford Kas were designed badly, so if you crash head on, you'll likely crush your legs.

I didn't know there was such a design defect. Everybody who had Ford Ka told me very good things about it, i've also checked the forums, but i haven't seen such a problem. The only bad thing i've heard so far is that there's no engine temperature warning light in the Kas, so some people say it's hard to see it when the engine is about the burn.

I guess i'll have to go with Fiat/Uno or Renault/Twingo types. Damn :-\

the best thing about me not being able to finish uni is that i got the result from the one paper i actually did hand in in time today. the professor really liked it and gave me an A. definition of irony!

Sorry if I ruined the Ka for you, Savannah. I've heard this shit about them in so many garages, and car people you meet out and about, who have tried to repair them after crashes and the drivers have been.. worse for wear. Anyway I would hate to see a post here from you saying 'someone hit my car and now I have no legs to show for it'.

No, no honey, you really did the best for me, don't worry. After you've told me about the head defect, i went into a deeper research. And i saw it's a very big problem, i guess it shows why most of the Kas' heads were repaired/repainted and engines were renewed.

So i decided to save a little more money (maybe it'll take 4-5 months more before i can gather something like 12-13k) and buy a much better and newer car. Right now i'm quite interested in Renault-Clio / Opel-Corsa/ Volkswagen-Golf & Polos, so i guess i'd better wait 'till i have enough money to buy any of them, rather than going with a relatively old car which i don't even want.

Quote from: an online history of the American Civil War
Soldiers often complained of the hardtack being moldy or infested with weevils, worms, or maggots.
The mold came from either becoming wet after being opened or the baking company not allowing
the hardtack to dry thoroughly before packaging. Soldiers would routinely tap their biscuits to knock
out most of the weevils before eating. Another trick was to dunk hardtack in the hot water of coffee
in order to chase out the bugs, which could then be removed from the cup with a spoon.

One soldier, complaining about the infestation of his hardtack, said: "I threw it away three times but it kept walking back".

“The only meat we get is the worms in the hard bread!” was another popular phrase heard around a camp.

Dumb Seamy being dumb. We were meant to be going to his mate Cearuillin's tonight for pizza, beer and telly, and he neglected to tell me that his shithead brother was going to be there. (Seriously, this guy is an incredible jerk. I dislike him both personally and morally. Personally, he's just a prick who's completely up his own arse and has no interest beyond his own little world. Morally, he's a fucking scab. He's living in a homeless shelter at the minute and while that would normally elicit my sympathy and concern, he's ended up there because he steals from and lies to everybody around him, including his closest friends and family, for no fucking reason, and finally they got sick of his shit and he had nowhere to go. Any normal person would take that as a serious sign to sort their shit out, but Eamonn is the same arrogant, self-absorbed, lying, cheating little prick he's ever been, and he's not even bothering looking for a job because "why bother when Mum can pay for me". His mum's got no more money than he has, and she's got some srs health issues, both mental and physical, that he not only ignores but actively aggravates with his behaviour. He's always scrounging for cash off people, including Seamus. Just today he was on the phone asking for money, and instead of just saying "No because you're a scavving shitbag and you're more likely to accuse me of stealing than you are to pay me back", or even just "No because I'm up to my eyeballs in debt of my own and have no way of dealing with your problems too", Seamy says "I haven't got any money at the minute, try asking Ciaran (one of their older brothers)". Makes me want to punch both of them.)

Anyway, I told Seamy that I was a bit annoyed he hadn't given me a heads-up about Eamonn being at Cearuillin's, but I didn't say I wouldn't go or that I wouldn't be nice and have a good time and whatever. But then he starts acting like I'm being a petty little bitch for objecting to having this cockhead sprung upon me at short notice. He said, "I'm hardly going to plan my social life around you - I'm not going to be thinking all the time, Oooh no, she can't be near Eamonn because she hates him, best call it off" in a really fucking sarky voice. I decided to drop it, because there's no talking to him in that mood, and he went back to the xBox while I read for a bit.

Then he decided that the xBox was boring and that he wanted a hug, so he climbed on top of me and started playing with my book. I told him to knock it off because I wasn't in the mood, and he started whining about how he just wanted cuddles and to be nice to me. I said, "If you want to be nice, leave me to my book instead of pestering me" and he went off in a fucking huff like a petulant little child. I gave up at that point and left to come home, because he can fuck off if he thinks that's acceptable behaviour. Who the fuck gets in a huff over somebody not wanting to hug them? Gnnffgh.

One of my favorite musicians (Adam "MCA" Yauch) died today. My friend texted me this morning right after I woke up and it ruined my whole day.
He had cancer and had admittedly been on his way out for a while, but it's still really upsetting.
Ugh, this is the fucking worst.  :'(

Today I was cutting up vegetables and I remembered that when I was younger, we knew someone who cooked vegetables in salty water. I asked my Mum who it was and she said it had been her Nan (my great-grandmother, but we all called her and my great-grandfather Nan and Pop) and walked off, leaving me to think about the amazing roasts Nan used to make. They were seriously amazing. I've never eaten anything so good. And sometimes we'd have ice cream with sprinkles after and when my little brother who was a baby at the time did his crazy babbling thing Nan and Pop would both reply to him in very serious tones as if they understood what he was saying. And we used to go to their house and play with these little farmyard toys my Mum played with when she was little because Nan and Pop raised her because my grandparents have always been...A little dysfunctional to say the least. And I can remember exactly how their house smelled and the plastic strips that used to hang in their kitchen doorway and even stupid things like the wax paper dispenser inside one of the cupboards that Nan used to use to wrap sandwiches.
About 9 years ago, my Granddad disowned my Mum and effectively me and my siblings because his wife didn't like us anymore. He asked Nan and Pop to stop speaking to us. And they did. I guess because he's their son. We never really spoke to them again, though my brother once bumped into them at a shopping centre.

Anyway, the day ruining bit: After all that thinking and remembering, my Mum came back into the kitchen and I asked if she thought anyone would tell us if one of them passed away. She looked at me strangely and said 'one of them did...' so I asked who it was and she said 'Nan did. The shock was the reason I went into pre-term labour when I was pregnant with Livvy, remember?'
I argued for a minute that I'd never been told before realising that I'd probably blocked it out worrying about the baby at the time and just forgotten. Then I tried to go back to what I was doing but I couldn't stop crying. They might have stopped speaking to us but I know they loved us and thought that they had good reasons and I have such wonderful memories of them. I can't believe that even if there is time for us to speak to Pop again, which is so unlikely to happen, things with Nan will never ever be worked out and she'll never cook lamb and her slightly more unhealthy but completely delicious salted-water-y vegetables for us and I'll never go back to that house and my two youngest siblings will never get to know them.

I fucking hate my so-called-Grandfather.

Kitty has been crying for his mummy all night. It's the most devastating sound I've ever heard.

When we got Lily as a puppy, they said to put her in a box with a hot water bottle wrapped up in a towel and a ticking alarm clock. The heat and the softness feels like Mum, and the ticking reminds them of her heartbeat. Might help?

Study link declined my student loan application. All because of an admin fuck up from when I withdrew from uni last year, which the uni is adamant never happened.
I shouldn't be letting it get to me, but I was looking forward to this course, and now I can't do it.

On the bright side, I have a crutch to fall back on until I figure out my next move.

Indja, I had one of those microwavable bean things on my tummy today for menstrual reasons, and he cuddled up to it and seemed quite content. Now he's quite attached to me so I think he's seeing me as surrogate mummy because I'm awesome at cuddles.

Excellent news :D That's the thing with little cutie animals, they just need their mums xD
