This made my day...

I was in the kitchen making soup from scratch (veggie soup-very tasty btw-) with Regina Spektor on to amuse me,
and I looked at the clock and the time was 11.11. :)
I love it when little things like that happen.

Sad, I know. But it made me smile.
Did you make a wish?  It doesn't work if you're clock-watching, but if you
just happen to catch it at 11:11, you're supposed to make a wish.

Ohhhh that's why everyones call like mystical about 11:11. Hmmm, is there any history behind it?

I can easily research the internet, but I like asking you because you're better than the internet, all that knowledge lodged up in there, it amazes me.
Funny, I like to think I know at least a little bit about almost anything, but I have no idea where
this came from.  Why 11:11 and not 12:34?  In any case, it's probably fairly recent, 1970s or so,
since it's much cooler on a digital clock instead of a dial-clock... when it's just big hand just past
the one and little hand a little past eleven
...

I shall investigate further.

I rarely catch the time at 11:11, but usually, at least twice a week, I catch it at 11:23, which just so happens to be my birthday [November 23rd]. I don't make wishes, but it does make me smile.

I went to washington to get gas, found out giant eagle is open twenty-four hours, and got four boxes of Underberg.

Oh, and I found a clarinet at the goodwill.

I might have wished-I can't remember-I spend all day wishing so I probably did.

The thing that made my day in that particular incident was that 11.11 is the name of the Regina Spektor album I was listening to songs from.

I went through this weeeiiirrrd phase last year where every time I looked at a digital clock (by chance-I didn't deliberately do this) it always read stuff like 11.11, 16.16, 21.21- it was crazy for a while-but I got used to it in the end lol. I think perhaps the universe was trying its best at something lol.

Well after fucking up my arm gloves thing that I'm knitting I did some 3 by 3 ribbing (it's 41 sts) and guess what? Experimenting is fucking AWESOME! It's created this really tacky design, it's sick! it creates these patches that sort of twirl in. I'll post a picture when I take one.

I found a college that has both a program in ethnomusicology, and a russian studies program, which would allow me to eventually get a doctorate of ethnomusicology and study the music of Eastern Europe. Plus, you don't have to audition or perform or even play an instrument (as far as I understand so far) to major in music studies and theory, like you do at the other colleges I looked at.

Oh, and Amanda Palmer studied there, which is a definite plus.
