I was going to say those things in a less articulated manner.

A bit of fire is what the shadowbox has been missing for a long time.  It's what actually makes it interesting to log on these days.  I feel that locking a thread at its most firey point only serves to make people have pent up aggression towards those they were arguing with and disallow people to explain themselves when it would be more efficient to let it play out.  Because at least then people have the opportunity to agree to disagree as opposed to being forced to shut up.
Arguing is all fun and good but not when someone gets attacked. That’s not fair and that’s what the thread turned into it. I honestly just think it’s a good idea that the thread is locked for now and afterwards, I don’t think I’ll go back to that thread. I’m sick of all this stupid, pointless drama.

It's not ALL 'stupid, pointless drama'.  I can see why some people feel so threatened by someone calling them out on something that they see it as drama, but if you look around, that's what life is like - you'll be called out if you make a mistake or say something offensive - so why shouldn't it be the same here?  The conversation had turned away from personal attacks at that point, for the most part, so unless a locking request was made to escape the truth and only just adhered to, it was a bad time to lock the thread.

I wonder if a new thread regarding the topic that was being discussed at that time would be allowed or immediately locked.
i thought of making a new thread, but since len went to the trouble of posting the rules about not making one i thought i would not.  however, i'd love to see a thread discussing these important spiritual matters.

Don't we already have a religious thread or are you talking about something else?
i'm talking about the same thing we are all talking about.  i just call them 'important spiritual matters' because i am very sarcastic at times, and i have a hangover, and it amused me.

There's a great sig quote in there somewhere.  I'm going to find it after dinner.
i just want you to know that i support your dinner, and applaud you for not using the more supperphobic word, 'lunch.'

I was actually referring to 'tea' as dinner.  I do use the word 'lunch' but I hardly ever say it.  I think of it as breakfast, lunch and dinner, because I have become estranged to the term 'tea' for the evening meal, because it is a drink.  I decided a long time ago that things got messed up when you said to someone 'do you want to meet for tea' and it meant different things.  Supper comes after dinner, if I get peckish around 9/10pm, so although I do use the word lunch, I do save room in my vocabulary and day for supper.  I have been against the term 'brunch' ever since somebody at uni refused to meet up with our study group because he didn't want to miss 'brunch'.  We got a low mark in our presentation thanks to his precious brunch.

I have decided that 'i am very sarcastic at times, and i have a hangover' is a sufficient sig quote, although it would have been funnier if it were 'it amuses me' as opposed to 'it amused me'.  Clearly everybody should say everything in accordance to what might look funnier in my sig.  ;)
feel free to change the tense of anything you need (that i have said) to better suit your signature.

i'd make a longer joke about calling 'tea' dinner, but i don't have the strength.  apparently i puked in the flowers last night and just cleared up an amusing phone call about it.  so i'm too bemused to be hilarious at this juncture.

Thank you for the permission, it is much appreciated.  Also, it will increase your reputation for being hangover hilarious if it is seen that you said 'it amuses me' in my sig.  Clearly I'm being entirely selfless, here.
it's my rare pleasure, madame.  it's also your heroic selflessness that has assured you a place in the pantheon.  if i am ever fortunate enough to imbibe in your presence, i will hork in your flowers as a gesture of respect and tenderness.

YES!  I mean... sure, cool.  Matt has decided he wants to go to Daytona Bike week at some point.  I don't know how far that is from you, but we intend to have enough to travel around, so I would be honoured if you would ink me, and then accompany me to a good place to get drunk enough to throw up in flowers.
daytona is a few hours' drive from me, maybe four or five at the most.  not sure exactly how far, but it would be fun to plan a trip there; some folks from my club usually go.  i've never actually been to bike week with a bike, although i did manage to visit a few times as a teenager when we lived in florida.  it was never difficult to find a female with a bike, at least when i was an adolescent.  it would be the worst kind of stupidity for me to not bring tattooing stuff so we can turn my hotel room into a den of iniquity for a few days.

we might have a hard time finding flowers that grow well in florida, but there is a wealth of pampas grass, palm trees, tourists, and beaches to throw up in/on.

That would be very awesome.  Be a couple of years, but awesome things are worth waiting for.  Just getting up in the morning and casually wandering next door to get tattooed.  I like this idea, we should definitely do it!  If needs be, there's always something to be drunk all over, I like the tourist idea, personally.  Although I will technically be a tourist, so don't get confused.

Also, I decided to google some pictures of Daytona Bike week, and look who I saw enjoying the view at bike week:

far left?  this shit makes my day, len.

Waking up to this out on the hills:

It never comes this low. And it's freeeeeeezing out. They've closed the Rimutaka's off at TeMarua which is really low, and only about 15-20 minutes drive from here.
It's currently 6C outside, and it's supposed to get worse!

I rock at driving stick now.

I was driving down a narrow, windy back road (PA is chock full of them) when I came upon some roadkill smack in the middle of it. Possibly used to be a deer, it was very large, but hard to tell as it had probably been hit several times before I saw it. I was in gear, with my foot on the gas, going 40 mph (ok, maybe a teensy bit more than that, but within 5 mph of the speed limit), and i went over to the right side of the road since there was enough space for my car to fit between the roadkill and the guardrail. Suddenly, as I was nearing it, still going roughly 40mph, an opossum snuck out from behind the roadkill and sat in the middle of my path. So somehow, in the span of less than a second, I managed to shift into neutral... and stop just before the little buttface possum. I don't remember shifting into neutral. BUT WHOAH I DIDN'T CRASH THE CAR AND THE POSSUM DIDN'T DIE AND THE GUARDRAIL IS STILL INTACT AND I DIDN'T EVEN SPILL MY COFFEE.

I ROCK.

This is obviously the most important part of this post.

I DIDN'T EVEN SPILL MY COFFEE.

This is obviously the most important part of this post.

I couldn't agree more. That's the part of which I was most proud.
