My brother coming home from his army camp.
I felt pretty neutral about it earlier, but I was happy when he got back.

that reminds me - I'd like to raise an SBox glass  :occasion14: to my neighbor's grandson, who completed his 4-year hitch in the Army and is now safely back home. He did two tours in Afghanistan (first one 18 months, the second one 12); thankfully, he'll never have to go back to that shithole.  :glasses9:

I did all the dishes. There's been a bit of a stand-off about it for the past few days, but I just thought "fuck it" and did them all tonight. I feel better now that they're done.

Congrats  :D You know it's no longer difficult when you start doing it.
Haha, yeah. Although it got a wee bit difficult as I got further down the stack and the plates got nastier, but it's done now!

@Imaginary friend: glad he's home safe :)

@ambigendi locus: aw, she sounds lovely :)

I just got back from 5 days in the Lake District with young Quakery people, which has made my week :) It was awesome fun, though pretty stressful in places. But generally rad! And they were sooo sweet. One of them was a new girl who was 12 years old, had the most adorable bunged up sort of voice, and played with Rabbit and read all the books I read at her age. She was my favourite xD

So last weekend, we (our class) found out that the deadline for one of our assignments is next wednesday (we got the deadline in a mail at the beginning of the year, and usually we get updates about every deadline a month in advance, so we hadn't thought about it anymore). Obviously, no one had really started yet, we'd all done our research, but we didn't start actually executing ideas.

So on monday, I started working, and I've put in about 70 hours of work now (10/day, sometimes more, sometimes less). I am happy to say that I'm nearly finished, with two more work days until deadline. I'll be working on the cover for my book tomorrow, which I'll hopefully finish.

What actually makes my day about this:

1) realizing that because of my hard work, I won't have any deadline stress, as I'll be finished one day in advance

2) other people in my class decided to be lazy bitches and do nothing, they said stuff like: "oh, but no one really knew about this deadline, so I'm sure they'll postpone it for a week or two...", so today we got an email that confirmed that deadline IS on wednesday and that we have to present out work to our lecturers for 60% of our grade (we'll have to present it again in june, to a team of people from other schools and businesses, for the other 40%). It may be mean of me to think like this: but them not being able to finish their work, actually makes mine look much better. I don't feel sorry for thinking this, because I sacrificed a week of fun stuff to finish my work.

i miss paris so much and though the weather will be shit there soooo many things i want to do, exhibitions i want to see (like helmut newton), and places where i want to eat  :D
also i'm going by train, and it's my first long train journey ever, and i'm really looking forward to just staring outside the window!
AND i'm taking my aunt to see this play she wanted to see, starring amanda lear (the disco icon blabla), so i made her a drawing hoping to become her new toy boy, or at least her artistic protégé...here it is http://i42.tinypic.com/ipqt61.jpg

I'm not over-eager to visit most of south-east Europe or the neighbouring
bits of Asia, but I do want to see in person the old churches of Istanbul
(which used to be Constantinople, but that's no one's business but the Turks...)

...and now that I think of it, Paris isn't really near the top of my must-see list either...

Nonetheless, I hope everyone traveling this Summer has a fun and safe trip.
