I got Sorted on Pottermore and got Hufflepuff LIKE THE MUTHAFUCKING WINNER I AM!! Seriously, I am so giddy about this. Giddier than I was when I got my wand - sycamore, phoenix feather core, eleven inches, slightly springy! Harry Potter is so good it makes me want to throw up.
Why do you like Hufflepuff?
I don't mean this in a sneering way, I'm just genuinely curious.
I think they're the most well-balanced and genuinely appealing house, like the house you'd most like to be friends with in real life when your world doesn't actually revolve around defeating dark lords! Slytherin's focus on ambition and leadership lacks attention to the people around you - nobody is a self-made success, it all depends on the support networks you have about you - and seems altogether too self-centred. Gryffindor's bravery and chivalry could all too easily cross over into foolhardy behaviour and a lack of consideration for what the people involved actually want, not to mention having a real twinge of arrogance. Ravenclaw's attitude that the only thing worth prizing is intellect and academic ability ignores all the other ways there are to be intelligent - emotional intelligence, for example, or being artistic. I'm not saying that all Gryffindors, Slytherins and Ravenclaws are like that, not at all, but just that there's an underlying disregard for the people around you in all of the things they value most. You don't get that in Hufflepuff, which values hard-work, friendliness, being non-judgemental, and loyalty. They're outwardly focussed, looking to the people around them and acting in the world with an awareness of the social context in which they lives unfold. Also, their common room reminds me of a hobbit hole, and I look stellar in yellow
