I was told that the English essays of Austen were graded really harshly so I was sure I'd failed, but then I got 55% 

...here in the States, anything below 60% is a failing grade at any school I've ever heard of.

Must be really easy to get 60% there. 40% is our minimum pass mark.

Perhaps assignments are done differently? I don't know, but the vast majority of my assignments have been essays so it's not that they're "wrong", just badly written.

I think it's kind of compensation for the whole "No matter how amazing your work is, we'll don't give A's" thing
