Didn't your mother tell you that there are poor starving children in some random country who don't even have a single, solitary toe for their supper.

He's been in prison since 2001 I believe.

It was a joke.

But I'm a nerd for X Files. Just like I'm a nerd for certain musicians and such. Meaning, I can't get enough of them! lol.

Enthusiast. Fan.

Nerds immerse themselves in a variety of activities that displace social interaction and development. X-Files was actually pop-culture.

What you are defining I call a "geek". I see nerds as just passionate, not necessarily anti-social. They get stereotyped into specific genres, but there are definitely sports nerds and NASCAR nerds.  :)

A geek is a "sideshow freak" (and I suppose, by extension, anyone) who specializes in eating non-food things.

I am seeing this as reversed. In the past, I saw them as both meaning the same thing, but terms like "beer geek" and a host of other hobby specific geek terms have changed the connotation.
