The lagging American economy

Who is concerned? Terrified?

What do you think can be done to fix this? Can it be fixed?

Or are we fucked?

It has imapcted me greatly over the last couple of years. My trade has taken a particularly hard hit... so bad that I have left it. We'll pull out of it, but it will take some work. Republican economic philosophies are particularly damaging to the working class. In a way, I suppose it's better that the problem is more widespread. It increases the likelihood that we will not make these mistakes again.

Concerned?  Certainly.

Terrified?  Naaah.

Can it be fixed?  Well, no and yes.  Steps can be taken at many levels to mitigate the symptoms, but the
core problem is largely a function of the cyclic nature of many interacting factors.  Eventually, it will cycle
back "up" again...

Are we fucked?  Since the day we were born...
(But seriously, shit happens in every lifetime.  You just have to look at it in a big-picture perspective.)

i've been hearing rumors that the stock market will crash again and we'll be thrown into another depression.

i don't like the sound of that.

i've also been hearing a lot about how the earth will be destroyed in 2012.

and that obama is the antichrist.

we'll see, i guess.

I really hope the earth does end in 2012. That would be cool... I don't know why, but it would.

I'm more concerned about Social Security and its failure to help out many disabled Americans who can't work......

I find it amazing that, at a time when the commercial investment markets are circling the drain, certain people
are still trying to sell the idea of privatizing SS.  "The Market consistently out performs... blah blah blah..."
...except when the market tanks and large amounts of money that seemed to be there yesterday simply aren't
there today.
