random death
« on: August 29, 2008, 02:59:47 AM »

This is random... I know.... this doesn't have much of a place beginning a new thread... fine. I dont care. I ddi so feckoff. I work in a porn shack. I am now the manager. Before this I was working 5pm - 1am 6-7 days a week. This fucking awesome guy came in every other night. One night he handed me a joint after listening to me bitch about working like a dog. A month or so after his absence I thought "Where the fuck is Sam?!" Another month. I become manager. I start day shifts and I know he never comes in during the day. I'm doing a regular task... Late movies. Like blockbuster I have to call people who have not returned their movies. We dont usually do past 40 days because by then you should be in collections for the cost of the movie. I decided to do 60 days. For the fuck of it. I go down the list first glance. Sam is on the list.... 58 days late. He is never late. Lame as it is. He is never late and I know this because I fucking do. I have had sinking suspicions something isn't right for so long and here it is... proof. Sam is not well. Nice way to think of it. I get a text from my boss. "hey what are you doing" "late movies..... I have a sinking feeling something bad happened to an old regular." "Sam died a while ago.... Tony (the "BOSS") knows. His wife is going to look for the movies." I'm thinking who fucking cares about the three fucking porns he has hes fucking dead andhis wife has enough on her hands than to think about his late fucking porns.

I knew it and I hate it. He was fucking awesome. Not creepy..... funny.... smart... generous.... polite.... he was fucking awesome. He wasn;t some pervert who rented porn he was a fucking wicked person... and hes dead. I would have went to his funeral.... he was that awesome. I guess you wouldnt understand unless you were as interested in people as I am. I will talk to anyone... more people are with your time than you know I'm sure.

I miss him. He made me happy. He's gone. Its fucked.

That kinda sucks...  "Sorry 'bout your husband.  If you can find the porn he rented from us pretty soon, we'll
waive the late charges..."   huh?

It happens though.  I could share a couple of regular-customer-dies-suddenly stories.

I think you should it could be therapeutic... or depressing. Both are fine.

Back when I worked at a grocery store...  within about a one-year span:

A little before official "opening time" one Saturday, one of our regulars appeared at the door.  Since I'd
already put the cash-register drawers in, and I knew him, I let him in.  I forget if he bought bottled water
or Gatorade, but he took his purchase and went off for his morning jog.  The next day, I heard that he'd
had a massive (as in, dead-before-he-hit-the-ground) heart attack on his morning jog....
I was probably the last person he ever spoke to.  He was 40-something.

The son of another family that we saw frequently went in for 30-minutes-then-go-home outpatient surgery.
When they gave him the anaesthic, his pulmonary function simply stopped, then his heart.  Despite the best
efforts of a bunch of doctors in a damn good hospital, he never woke up.  I think he was 16.

These things both kinda freaked me out.

Death... is the most fucked up thing to experience for me every time. He does not exist.... he is now just flesh.. rotting. He was so much more than just a vessel of someone but now he won't be that much for very long. I go through this every time someone I know dies. I don't like that I hadn't known for so long after he died either. Anyways.... yeah being baked and thinking about shit like death and God and the like sometimes don't mix well for me. Sam probably knew what I mean by that. He was probably good shit to get baked with but I never did. I mean I probably never would have but who knows... I won't. I thought I was done... ok I am now.

Gosh, I forget who said it, but there's a good quote:

Even that we will wake up is an assumption...

I've heard that too. Who was that? Bob Dylan?   ;D
