But I think it's high time someone revived the Joel Grey-type Emcee. I like the whole, "Whoooo I'm so sexy whoooooo" think because Alan Cumming and NPH are sexy as fuck, but I miss the impish, playful, fucking creepy Emcee.

We did Cabaret at my college a couple years ago and had a super creepy Emcee. It was pretty fantastic. I think the character should always be far out and twisted; even when I didn't know much of the show and had only read the libretto, I pictured a creepy, crazed, strung-out personality.

I agree...as much as Alan is perfect...there's something about Joel's portrayal that's just as captivating. It's always a treat when you see an actor that incorporates a little bit of Alan and a little bit of Joel into.their performance.
