is yoga really relaxing?

Depends.

In my case, when i first started doing Shaja Yoga, it was so fucking relaxing and peaceful, but then it turned out that those guys were trying to make us worship to their leader called Shri Mataji. And everything they said and done were always so very polite that you could never tell why the hell they kept saying "say thank you to Shri with your inner voice for all the beauty she has created, she indeed is a supernatural and superhuman being look at the brightness in her face, put her picture in your favourite place in your room and decorate there with beautiful flowers, fumes and candles, and each time you see the picture bow down and express your thanks to the one who contains the soul of god inside her human body." between the lines and during the meditation sections.

I told them that i did not want to put her picture in my room, not that because i had doubts, only because i dislike seeing pictures in my room because they cause me to have nightmares sometimes. Anyway, the instructors showed a very exaggerated response, they told me that if i would not put her pictures in my room, then i didn't have to practice the meditations. And i told them to fuck off  :)

Surely yoga is supposed to clear your mind and relax, but it doesn't have to mean you'll have to pray for/worship at some woman who is surely an ordinary human being.

So, to my humble advice, you should try to find somewhere which doesn't aim to make you things you don't want to. Because, proven by experience, there are many religious groups which call themselves as yoga schools.

I'll have another job interview this evening, the position is corporate banking portfolio something.
Not that i'm hopeful about it, but i'm happy because finally i'm seeing more serious and nationwide companies.

*fingers crossed*

good luck!  :D

Thankiee  :D
Everything went very well, but the position is not something i've been looking for. Tomorrow is the second interview, i'll try to apply for another division, if they won't employ me in their fucking cambio/credit letters division, i'll tell them to go to hell :D

woah, that sounds like a bunch of nutters! eeek!
well i'm usually not fond of the yoga ''crowd''... i have nothing against superhealthy people or vegetarians but i've often found them to be really pushy..
and i didn't even know about the ''religious side''.
maybe i should try some basic exercises at home? i'm not really in the mood to go to a gym... i think i'd end up not going.

Syl, i'm just trying to say, you'd better make a good research before you start any of such classes. And for the sake of your peace of mind, try to stay away from such "ooh we don't get paid for it, we are doing it because helping the people is our spiritual profit"  :) You know, there ain't no such thing as a free lunch and if they don't demand money in return, there should be something else they may ask you to give.

Len was talking about some yoga teacher who had really good yoga cds, i guess her name was Peggy Cappy.
But i'm sure there are good yoga schools too where you live, who won't push their believes on you. Just stay away from the Sahaja dumbsters, they are really sticky and annoying.

I don't really enjoy steak...or getting head.
So I'd rather let somebody else eat the steak, and give head (That I enjoy).

concerning yoga:

i think you should all switch to taiji instead. i started last year and it is completely awesome (so far). although the origin lies in ancient chinese philosophies i found the classes to be way less religiously focussed and demanding (which is what made me feel quite uncomfortable doing yoga) -  if at all. no pictures of leaders, no om shantis, no incense. just people trying to feel better in their own skin by doing a series of movements.
btw, i'm trying to push my beliefs on you here.

Yesterday I was volunteering at the DCC (Deaf Culture Centre) when these 3 guys stepped in. They were so sexy in that college jock-type way. And then it turns out that they were Deaf and they introduced themselves to me. They went to a Deaf school in America (I'm not sure if it was Gallaudet, or not, but if it were I would have seen the sign for Gallaudet University) and it was their spring break so they came and visited Toronto because they know we have a huge Deaf community here.

The were so sexy!
