I want to quit my job. I will do nothing but read books, snuggle with my husband, play video games, and occasionally buy shining things on the internet. And they live happily ever after.

Go for it!!

My hair looks *awesome* right now. But my webcam is too poor quality to show you :( It's got a bit of pomade in and it smells like bubblegum, which makes me crazy kinds of happy.

I'm pretending it is pink as well. Or perhaps a rainbow of bubblegum colors: raspberry  red, blueberry blue, lemon yellow, bubblegum pink, errr... orange orange?

I'm afraid it's just brown on the sides and reddy on the top.... But the pomade itself is blue, if that makes it better?

What's MOFO?

that is a festival that is taking place in Tasmania that will feature an evening w/ Amanda (Look, Amanda, we’ve got it for you bad. You can do what you like, quite frankly, especially if it involves flashing us your map of Tassie.) and also an evening w/ Neil (We love Neil, which is why we keep asking him back: to transfix us with his stories, which are spooky and funny, and have won shitloads of awards, too many to mention. There’ll be music, too, by Jherek Bischoff and local musicians, and a special guest…hint: Neil’s got the hots for her, massively, and she has a ukulele.)

Usually guide books and websites for the country have that kind of information. Where are you planning on going?

I've look a few guides I found in one local book store here, but that one was more the kind "Im rich and I can afford Michelin guide restaurants". Not the kind of trip Im planning, not the kind of place I would dig.

It really does depend on where you're going. If you were to go to Ireland, you would spend a lot on food, but if you were going to Thailand, you would spend very little.

Im planning to visit England and Wales, but in 2015 only.  I'm trying to build a basic sheet of costs (using local inflation to have more a real value) to have an idea of how much I need to save. Since I know it is impossible to make a projection of how much I will expend on food, I was wondering if people more experienced on traveling  would give me a general idea of how they plan these costs.

About where you are going to stay, I'm finding difficult to calculate cost/benefit - since I plan to visit more than one city, will be more wise to sleep at every city or make daily train trips (for instance)?  But I realized that that was a too generic and broad question. So, never mind it. =P

I think being well-organized can have a huge impact on how much money you spend. for exapmle:
will you stay at youth hostels or holiday apartments where you can cook for yourself? or do you know anyone in the area who can tell you which restaurants to go to, so you don't end up at expensive touristy things?
can you get discounts on train fares or hotel rooms by booking early? do museums etc. have times or days when they are free of charge? in some countries it's also good to know if you are charges for stuff you wouldn't necessarily expect, like if you go to a restaurant in france there is an automatic fee for service/fork+knife+napkin, whereas in norway there are different food prices depending if you sit and eat at the restaurant or order to take away (even at mcdonalds!). in other countries like China for ex. eating is really cheap and if you try to tip them they don't take it and may even find it rude.

generally you can check a lot of prices on the internet, at hotel sites, maybe food stores that have an online service, and of course compare air-, train- and busfares. or get a good guide book that can tell you sample prices.

But even if you calculate well, there might be costs you didn't forsee or completely forgot to include, so having a little financial cushion can be crucial. Sometimes the local traffic (like subway and tram) is CRAZY expensive...like in London. Or if you go to Turkey, they charge you for the visa at the airport...which came as a surprise to me (luckily it was only 15 euros).

ok, you can get a pub lunch for around £3 to £7 and a restaurant dinner for about £6 to £9. A pint is ~£3. As for places to stay, I usually go for hostels as they are the cheapest options and sites like hostelbookers.com have reviews and prices as well as booking. If you are looking for something a little nicer B&Bs in pubs are often a good choice especially in more rural areas. Travelodge is a chain of budget hotels that are basic but clean and good for traveling around the UK, they have a site where you can check prices in various locations. I would stop in different cities, hotels are usually about the same price wherever you go, excluding London which is much more expensive. However trains can be very expensive if you zig-zag across the country. I hope this helps!

It does.

I've found some books today that were from different publishers and had a broader audience. I may buy one of them in a month or so, but I could skim one of them and their prices were closer to what you gave me. There were other books there I could not skim because they were all sealed.

Thanks for the info regarded the trains. I'm planning to visit England during the 2015 Rugby World Cup. London is already expensive on regular basis, which makes me wonder it will be way more expensive during the event. Since I do want to visit London and there will be games held there, I thought about staying there at first. But then, I saw there will be games on near cities where I could stay and then, travel to London for site seeing and watch the games.
