I just read an article about a severely handicapped girl who got a medical treatment to stop her growth. The article says that the girl can't walk, talk or hold her head up. And that she is fed through a tube and lies wherever she is put, usually on a pillow.
I also read some comments of people on this article. They were all saying how horrible these parents are and how they could mutilate their own child like that. To me, it's clear that those people have NEVER seen a child with a handicap like this. They don't realise that if the child actually grows that the parents won't be able to take care of her anymore, and the only thing that will be left for her will be to lie on the bed or the sofa all day, staring at nothing.
I know a girl who is in the same condition as this girl, and I'm watching the parents struggle as their child gets bigger. They love to take her on outings, for example she simply loves the sea. She cannot talk to express these feelings, but she lights up everytime they go to Spain and her parents play with her where the waves break in the sea. I can imagine that her life would be a lot less bright if they weren't able to do stuff like that anymore.
So yeah, I get why the parents in the article are stopping their daughter's growth. These people commenting on it in such crude ways are obviously POO (trying to stick with the theme going on here, and not to be a combo breaker

).
