No, I don't have a car, I'll probably be taking the bus to 20th street Mall and then take a bus from there to the show, though the going back to the bus station is the complicated thing. Suggestions?

I would enjoy having a beer people!

If I had my car right now I would help you out. Maybe go on Google maps and try to see if there are shortcuts?

I think I'll just get a cab from where the show is to 20th St. and pick the bus to Boulder.

Will there be a meet and greet? Ninja gig? Something?

Ok, sounds good!

If someone is traveling from Boulder, I can pay gas or beer whatever works better for you :P

If one of my friends up in Boulder decides to come down for the show I'll drop a line. I have a couple who sounded fairly interested when the tour was announced.

I'm hoping to make it!

September 21st is my Birthday and I can't think of a better way to spend it! However, getting up there from NM might be problematic, but I've got just under 2 weeks to figure out a way to make it all happen :)

Hi!
I live in Texas but will be on vacation in Colorado the week of the show, so I'll get to see her twice!  First in Houston then in Denver. How perfect!
I've also talked my cousin, who lives in Denver) to go to the show with me even though she's not familiar with AFP.  Hopefully she'll become a new fan.

In a way I wish this show wasn't at the Gothic. It's more difficult to get to.

I was rooting for her to play the Fillmore or the Paramount.

I'm going! I'm actually going alone, because I couldn't find anyone who was interested in going with me but I usually meet lots of awesome people so it's not a problem!

Are you all planning on dressing up for the show?

(I think beer is an excellent Idea!)

When I saw her during the WKAP tour in 2008 there were a lot of people dressed up. People were doing theatrical skits and acts inside the venue, too.

Sounds amazing. My friend out in Texas is seeing her two days before me and she's a BIIIIG fan. I'm going by myself too. It's gonna be a five concert week for me but the transportation issue is only a minor obstacle... It's gonna happen the way it happens. If any body has room for a tagalong let me know please. Thank you AFP fans!

My friend Hailey and I are totes going! I relate like hell to going to see my favorite artists play and having no friends with me.  I would love love love it if you were to find us and glomp onto our group for the night! I'm going to be wearing a red and black corset, red and black tutu-lookin skirtness, fishnets, and steampunk goggles with a red bandana. Please hang out with us! We might get noms afterwards too :D

Also, everybody, this is my first AFP show too! I have a question: I'm a singer songwriter, and ever since I started listening to Amanda her style has been seeping into my music. What are the chances that I could steal 4 minutes of her show time and play her a song? I'm only asking because she seems irregular enough for it to fly. Maybe. She talked about pulling people up on stage.

That would be Awesome! Thank you! Concerts like these are so much more fun with people who are *really* into the music and not just casual take it or leave it fans... ya know? Do you mind if I PM you with my cell number? I would love to glop on your group!

What do you think about performing outside before the concert? People would probably love some entertainment while waiting in line! (I think there is a group out there that does this very thing...)

Otherwise, I'd try tweeting Amanda Palmer and see what she thinks?

Now to put together my outfit!

My suggestion if you want to try that is to utilize Twitter. Send tweets to Amanda and members of her touring team and see if you can arrange something. If you don't hear anything then I would just try to play outside or perform for people inside the venue before the show. Either that or wait and see if the does a meet and greet after the show and play for her then.

Anyone doing the meet & greet at Twist and Shout tomorrow at 4pm?

I'm probably skipping it because the friend I am going with works until 5, but on Facebook they said a meet & greet will most likely take place after the show as well. We'll see what happens.

Oh wow! I didn't even hear about a Meet and Greet beforehand, thanks for the update. :)

Also, I've never been to the Gothic before, how is Parking there? Does it have it's own lot, or will I be driving around for awhile trying to find a place?

The lot fills, but there's street parking around. Just be really, REALLY careful to avoid parking in nearby business lots (King Soopers, etc...)  There's usually a spotter around, and they tow quickly and all night.

(And the lot they tow to is on the Aurora side of Denver. It's a pricey pain in the arse, from personal experience)

Also, hello folks!  Another first-timer inbound!

Yes, beware of street parking. I could have been towed when I saw her in 2008 at the Bluebird because I misread the sign. I had to go back and park an additional 2 blocks away. The keywords are "Monday-Friday" and seeing that it is Friday don't park anywhere where there is a no parking sign. Just read and be smart.

See you all at the show tonight.

So... last night was awesome.

The setlist as I remember it (most likely not in order):

Smile (Pictures or It Didn't Happen)
Bottom Feeder
Missed Me
The Killing Type
Want It Back
Astronaut
Grown Man Cry
Trout Heart Replica
Lost
The Bed Song
Berlin
Careless Whisper (George Michael cover featuring Ronald Reagan)
Olly Olly Oxen Free
Leeds United (played as an encore)

Some comments/highlights I got from the night:

Bottom Feeder was something special, I already saw this on the webcast but live it's just so awesome!

Astronaut didn't work quite right IMHO.

Sound was shit >_> or maybe just not good.

Also Bed Song reminded me how good she is by herself.

I'm a little bit bummed out that they didn't play Do It With A Rockstar, besides that they did a really great performance. Jherek did amazingly with his bass and all the arrangements.

I thought Astronaut was fantastic, but I do agree that the sound in general was... off? I think the sound guy just had certain amps up too loud. Amanda's piano and mic both weren't loud enough while the drums and the bass were way too loud, especially the bass. My ears were ringing all the way home.
My only real complaint, which is odd, is the length of some of the songs. Especially how it took them like 10 minutes to complete Careless Whisper. I had a great time and I love seeing them enjoy themselves on stage but there is such a thing as stretching it a little too far.

One thing I must mention is Ronald Reagan. I thought they were fantastic. I had so much fun listening to them. I also agree that Jherek was great. He does really special things.

I can totally agree with careless whisper, even though all that performance is awesome!

Your shirt sounds familiar, yosmark.

I think I was the only person in the whole place wearing white and black checkered Vans. I was sitting around the bar for a while beforehand and for some of Jherek's set.
