Gosh darn being broke and in the Midwest, the Coachella lineup's absolutely great.

I'm hoping the Lollapalooza lineup is good, because I'm definitely shelling out the money for that if it's worth it because going is super-manageable.

Truth be told, this is the first year I haven't been sad to miss Coachella. I'm not a huge fan of the festival scene I guess, but it didn't make sense for me personally to fork over the money and get gross in the desert with strangers. Maybe next year, though. PLUS I was waiting for Depeche Mode's tour announcement and now I'm throwing all of my money at them instead. :) I still wish I could have gone last year, though.

so...

Bad news.  No Lou Reed after all...sad face.

Good news, I found about 30 other bands I would like to see.

More bad news...I wont even get to see half of them due to conflicts.

More good news...Coachella '13 will still be awesome.

I am used to making tough decisions when the schedule comes out, but Having to chose Descendents over Postal Service hurts pretty bad.

The 14 year old punk rocker in me wins this battle.

I just had possibly the best Coachella experience of my life.

The crowd was the best ever.  The weather was a little on the warm side, but beautiful all weekend.

The shows were nonstop and awsome.

Bands I listened to 30 years ago: Violent Femmes, O.M.D., New Order, The Descendents all put on some of the best shows of the weekend.

New bands that I have loved more recently: Lumineers, Portugal The Man, Tame Impala made me more sure of the reasons I fell in love with them over the last year.

Bands that I discovered only after the lineup came out: Savages, Palma Violets, Father John Misty made me glad for the future of my musical discovery adventures.

There were other wonderful bands that I may gush about once I have a chance to soak it all in, and lots of awesome art this year.  Anyone who has not been needs to start planning for next year.  Anyone who has been you know what I mean...you need to come back.
