I think its great that the talk has been so successful. I just hope that a lot of those people who heard it will go discover her music now

Me too!

A fair number have, both from comments I've read on amandapalmer.com, youtube.com, and ted.com, as well as Amanda's re-tweets from TED talk inspired fans.

This whole episode of her life, starting from the Theatre is Evil kickstarter, continuing through interviews, the TED talk, and beyond, will get Amanda and her art/music much more notice.

Amanda tweeted this response to her TED talk.
Worth the read.

I was just at a party with a group of parents from my kids' school, who are all professionals in their 40-50s. When I mentioned Amanda's name, they started talking about the TED talk and how amazing it was. They couldn't believe that I was one of her fans and supporters and asked lots of questions. I blogged it here:

http://rivervox.livejournal.com/11461.html

I explained twitter, kickstarter, the Dresden Dolls, Amanda & Neil (which made a psychologist swoon) and pontificated on the artist/patron model. It was really, really weird because one month ago, if I'd mentioned Amanda to this crowd, I bet no one would have heard of her. We're not a subculture anymore, folks!

I'd love to hear other stories about how the TED talk is spreading. Did your grandmother, professor, boss or hair stylist see it?

I recently wrote a blog about our experiences helping Amanda with the props needed for the TED Talk.
