Philadelphia House Party thread
« on: April 25, 2013, 05:01:32 PM »

Hi Folks!

Amanda requested for me to start this thread so she has a place to drop in between now and our party on May 13.

Party is taking place on Monday May 13 at 7:30.

If you are on the list you have received the address already. Parking is street parking. It's legal to park next to the church at the end of the street as long as its not during school hours, which it's not during the party.

Since it's a weeknight, don't sweat bringing anything unless you wanna. I know lots of folks are coming from work.

I'm planning on home made pizza with various toppings and you'll have the opportunity to make your own if you want to. (Pizza is kind of a hobby with me, I've got a double oven with full pizza stones)

If you want to contribute to dessert or bring toppings that you like that's cool.
I've heard from a couple of folks about food issues, let me know if you haven't already.

We can expect Amanda to play for about an hour of a 3-4 hour party.

I'd love to have people bring any AFP inspired art. I have some here.

I can't wait to meet everyone!

Would there be any chance of anyone be carpooling from center city? I'm coming in from out of town via public transit and will be carless.
I will gladly help pay for gas.

Thanks!

I can bring a dessert or two. Store bought though as I will not have time to make anything by hand. I was thinking little cupcakes or something. Food issues???

I'm also bringing pumpkin vodka!!! With Sierra Mist & diet to mix. And/or, I can bring OJ too. Any suggestions?

Mary,
Mary,

Are you coming in by train?
If no one is coming from that direction, you can take the Market Frankford Line (Blue Line) to Frankford Terminal which is the end of the line and call us, we'll pick you up there. Keep me posted if you get a ride.

Boxinghelena:

There will be at least two (possibly three) gluten free folks and one is also no dairy.

I'm going to check my local bakery to see if they can make little cupcakes gluten & dairy free.

My bakery can't guarantee 100% gluten-free. Darn it!! I found a gluten free & dairy free brownie recipe so I'm going to try a trial run this weekend to see how they turn out.

Don't go to too much trouble unless you like baking.
There will be other desserts as well, some of which will be gluten free.

I was also going to find some fresh fruit. That's always good.

HOLA you guys....

very very excited to come to you!
i did a party in seattle night before last, outside on a lawn, which was beautiful beyond measure. cold, but there was fires and marshmallows. on my way to a party in portland today, in my trusty little rental car and some terrible used CDs bought in a little used record store in jason webley's hometown.

anyway...i'll blog some pictures and reflections from this round of parties to inspire you guys - it seems like the more things people bring and ideas they throw into the mix, the better these things are, so think think think.

Hey Barb (or anyone else who can help)

Since I inconveniently moved right before this happened, I'm flying up from Louisiana with my sister on May 13th. What's the best way besides an expensive taxi ride to get from the airport to your area?

Natalie,
There's a train from the airport to Center City. From there you can take the Market Frankford El (Blue Line) to Frankford Terminal. Give us a call and we'll come get you there.

I picked up Bob's Red Mill Gluten-free brownie mix this weekend for a trial run. I also made them dairy-free. My husband liked them so that's what I'll be bringing and probably other treats, besides the vodka of course! :)

I can't wait!!
