Doesn't necessarily have to be a bad thing, as long as rates are kept proportional -

If Ted's Diner can reach all of his 3,612 followers for 1/1000 of what MEGACorp pays to spam all
3,612,000 of the people who "followed" them to enter their last product-giveaway promotion.....

If they do it that way, it helps FB balance the books WITHOUT trying to monetize people's personal
shit (again) and it cuts down on the spam postings by giant impersonal corporate users.
