I'm wondering what you consider Good and Bad Happiness.  Do you mean immoral happiness?  Happiness about an unhealthy thing?  Shallow happiness?  Artificial happiness?

Ummmm...

I have an ice cream cone, and I am happy.  [good]

I do not have an ice cream cone, but your ice cream cone just fell over onto the floor, so I am happy.  [bad]

These girls have ice cream, so I am happy...

Is that bad?

Good happiness: Lasting, genuine, serene

Bad happiness: Obsessive, vice-related, manic

Sort of. I'm not sure I agree with what I just said.

It'd honestly be easier to define "good" and "bad" sadness.  :)

Edit: Good = constructive, Bad = destructive. That might work better.

it can be a lot more complex
one can be genuinely happy yet experience feelings of guilt because you are aware that your happiness is not shared by others

I think there is only happiness, the experience should not depend on what other people think.  O0

I think that there is no true happiness.
we all get caught up with euphoria and deliberately run from the less comfortable feelings that happen alongside

According, if happiness does not exist what would make euphoria exist?... I am not saying they are conected but... they are still feelings.

it depends on how you define happiness....... I am generally not happy, but have moments of euphoria regularly, usually compounded with feelings of guilt and remorse

Well, a definition of happiness all by myself...  I would define it as state of tranquility in which everything seems to be ok, in which you get a sense you barely get, most of the times it´s not happiness, mmm...

Great question indeed Raliel.

For a more philosophical approach, try researching (wikiing) eudaimonia and hedonism.

Also, has anyone seen the film Happiness by Todd Solondz?

Dare I say.. Best film, EVER.

Quote from: Wikipedia
Happiness
Solondz's next piece was Happiness (1998), a highly controversial film due to the themes explored in it, which range from rape, murder and pedophilia to a bizarre sexual phone caller. The original distributor, October Films, dropped it and then it was scooped up by Good Machine Releasing.[1] The movie received numerous awards,[1] including International Critics' Prize at the Cannes Film Festival,[2] and yielded strong critical praise for Solondz.

Sounds interesting, I will try to get it.

Happiness is happiness.

Good is good.

Bad is bad.

If you say you are concerned with the terms "good happiness" and "bad happiness", I say you should not define happiness as good or bad, nor should you define any emotion as inherently correct or incorrect. The circumstances under which that emotion is experienced should concern you. The emotion is an innocent by-product. You should not believe happiness, nor any emotion, is bad because then you will dislike that emotion. It is possible to feel emotions, and to still have a rational reaction to your situation. Emotions only exist to assist your body to prepare for situations in what it believes is the correct way. You can teach yourself to be happy about anything, whether you consider it to be good or bad.

Humans are sooo amazing...
