I've cried a lot today for various reasons, I even took the day off of work because I have a cold and needed a mental health day. I even dusted off my yoga mat and went outside to meditate. And reading this (and Brians explanation) made me cry, in both sadness (for obvious reasons that in the immediate future there is no more Dresden Dolls) and happiness (because I will hold on to Amanda's belief that they will, someday, be back together again). I also want to extend a thank-you to both Amanda and Brian for explaining all of this in the best way you could, even though the timing sucks, however there probably would never be a good time. I wish you the best of luck in whatever you do in the future, and I hope fans of the Dolls, and Amanda and Brian respectively- can continue to support each other, create beautiful things, and maybe even gather together and show the world (again and again) how these two people have inspired us. Much love  :love5:

Thank you.
It had to be hard to put this out here now, when you need your head and your heart to be somewhere else.

Thank you both for not making things bitter and awkward.

Thank you both for not making it feel like sides need to be chosen.  It alows us to continue to love you both...

And I have to say I read the Men are from Mars book, and although the person who asked me to read it (male) felt it was accurate about what he needs, I found it absurd, demeaning, and dismissive towards women.  Please explain to me how a divorced male with no input from a female can write about what goes on in a woman's head?

Enjoy Europe, we'll see you in CA...and JR was mistaken, I'll be 9.5 months at the CA shows, not 8.5  :)

I shall be in the group hug and then creep around hugging everyone individually.

I have the same weird feeling I get on New Years Eve, reading this.

This makes my eyes water.

It's a very odd feeling to feel so involved with what's happening in the world of the Dresden Dolls, and then the next thing you know, you're reading about an indefinite hiatus, and then you're reading about how you should have read between the lines of all the stuff you thought was all laid out on the table. There were hints, we suspected, we just didn't want to believe.

it's about time to share it with you guys, because i don't think, this time, that the truth will hurt.

The truth ALWAYS hurts.

And as I sit at my desk on my computer the little Yes, Virginia promo post cards on my wall are staring at me.

Illustrations of both Amanda and Brian with their fingers to their lips. LUNGS LOCKED, LIPS LOCKED JOIN THE RENAISSANCE over Amanda and YOU CAN STOP THE TRUTH FROM LEAKING over Brian.
If only the lyrics were switched around, it'd be perfect in this context, don't you think? Considering what happened here and on youtube.

It's much different KNOWING there's a hiatus, than having it be proclaimed. Obviously the Dresden Dolls have been on hiatus for almost a year and a half now, with the solo record and different band projects - so what the Dolls join together for a month to tour and then part, we knew it was coming. You'd be lying if you said you didn't.

I love you Amanda, Brian - as the Dresden Dolls and as talented musicians. You have loyal fans that will follow you WHEREVER you go, just don't forget why.

same here.

edit: and i just want you to know that I completely know how you feel. well maybe not completely since i wasn't with someone for that long a time period but a break to do things your own way really helps, i know it helped me, and if broken long enough the reunion is almost like the first time.

I love you both: the Dresden Dolls shows I've seen in London, New York and Chicago over the last couple of years have been amazing, so I'm feeling pretty tearful about the recent news.  But I'm so glad you still love each other, that you both still bring the music, and I'm sending positive thoughts to you.  Shake a tail feather tomorrow in my home town Belfast.
