AMEN (in sweet-ass harmony)

if i'd had the means, i'd have gotten on a plane to dublin this afternoon to get a haircut from you in temple bar tomorrow.

somewhere between "what a wonderful world" at the boston pops show and "mein herr" at the establishment tent in rothbury i got the strong impression that the deliriously wonderful concept known as "the dresden dolls" had turned into an essence on a higher plane of existence, one that couldn't be anticipated or predicted, but one that would almost certainly be crystallized into being whenever one of you had a gig and the other one of you happened to be in the same town at the same time.

i say, just make sure to leave room on the roster for world/inferno in the establishment tent part deux at rothbury 2009 and . . . see what happens.

see you both individually on the road soon, and both together on the road . . . eventually. much love.

Silly Amanda and silly Brian. One day you will see you are at your best when your together.

Well there's nothing like telling someone it's all downhill from here! lol

Seriously though, this should be much more about looking towards the future. Relationships break up-be they friendships, romantic, musical....whatever.
It's always sad whether you are right on the frontline of the pain or looking in from the outside.

But it's all about the future, and there' so much to look forward too....

I am not sad, because WKAP is amazing and that seems just like a start of something that is only going to grow even more powerful.

I have no idea what World Inferno is like yet, but plan on checking it out soon. Saw Humanwine with vig on drums, and that was some total badassery right there.

And yes Amanda, Amen. BTW...

your mum could tell us things...

I was listening to 'Rock n Roll Suicide' by David Bowie as I read this, and I found the lyrics oddly appropriate/comforting:

Quote
Oh no love! you're not alone
You're watching yourself but you're too unfair
You got your head all tangled up but if I could only
Make you care
Oh no love! you're not alone
No matter what or who you've been
No matter when or where you've seen
All the knives seem to lacerate your brain
I've had my share, I'll help you with the pain
You're not alone

I was in a bookstore today, and almost bought this calendar out of sheer neediness for Hallmark packaged wisdom.  Sometimes smart people say smart things and they get written on calendars, who knew:

I'm debating whether January, February, March, or October should be new life motto/Facebook quote/coffee talk pretentious comment: "Well, as Oscar Wilde once said... "

Edit: Or May, I do like ribbons.

AMEN!!!!!

It's like I said elsewhere on the board, all of this would be much more upsetting if it wasn't for that fact that within the next few months, I'm going to be seeing Brian play with World/ Inferno and then see Amanda do a solo show. But, it would be much, much MORE upsetting if the door was closed and the chance of there ever being a band called The Dresden Dolls was impossible. I honestly believe that we haven't heard the last of Brian and Amanda playing together. It's just that everyone needs a break and while they're on this break, we'll still be getting amazing music from both of them. Then, when the day comes that they get back together, it'll make it all the more special for us, the true fans who have stuck with them all along. As I've said before, as long as they both can continue to make music, the journey's not over and we'll all still be along for the ride!

Thanks for such a heart-felt and honest update on things, Amanda!
Long live the punk cabaret!

Awww, Amanda. *hugs*

I'm so sorry that things have happened the way that they have, but in the end I think that this is for the best.

Your solo work is amazing, and I cant wait to hear more.

I already went on and on in the positivity thread, but thank you so much for being amazing, for creating something beautiful and new, and for giving us all those years of gorgeous Dresdenness.

I hope that you are doing ok. You are one of the most thoughtful musicians I have ever seen, so kind to your fans and so considerate of us. I'm sorry that the timing of this hit when it did. Don't get too stressed out while you try to tour.

I love you both.
