Chicago Brigade 12-03-08
« on: September 26, 2008, 04:19:49 AM »

Oops!  Posted this in boot camp but meant to post it here...

take two...

Yes it is a ways off but that just means more time for planning or procrastinating...

I was thinking that for the Chgo Funeral Procession we should go all classy gangster ala Al Capone era meets roaring 20's theme with a smidgeon of irish thrown in for good measure...what better way to honor Amanda in Chicago then old school gangster/1920's???

Any who want to be involved let me know...have spoken with one or two already...I am very excited to don my funeral style zoot suit...

*raises hand*

I'm in!

 :D

edit: OK just got an idea...  We should set the entrance to the theater up as crime scene investigation.  Get some one to lay down on the ground and we'll trace their body in white chalk and then write "Who Killed Amanda Palmer?" off to the side.  Go totally old school; take Polaroids of potential suspects and then have the audience/those waiting in line to choose their favorite murderer...  Basically, get everyone involved.  Then when the mourners come we can go around and make speeches about how good of a person Amanda 'was'.  Then if anyone is up for it, hand out a funeral song or two with edited words and what not...  For theatrics; perhaps an acted out version of "Backstabber" showing the murder?  I don't know...but what I do know is that I'm totally hyped right now!!!

Omg, I am travelling 3 hours for this show and would just die to be a part of this act! (No pun intended.) I am in love with the 1920's gangster theme - too perfect. Emmie, I love your idea too, I had actually been thinking about something similar, with crime scene tape, a police man with handlebar mustache, perhaps a newspaper reporter and horrified onlookers? Oh, I'm so excited. Please let me know how I can help!

EDIT
Perhaps we could have a town cryer handing out newspapers/flyers about how there is a murderer roaming the streets with reccomendations for all citizens to keep their women and children inside. :)

^ Oh god, same here. At least we have our priorities straight. Amanda Palmer will always come before my education.

Emmie-I love your idea too...I am going with the funeral procession as amanda's peeps had said they would like people in different cities doing funeral procession themes...I figured the Al Capone gangster era meets roaring 20's(yay flappers!), with a smidgeon of Irish theme would be a great homage to WKAP Chicago style...we should see what else we can work into the piece and where they are at with themes they want from the brigade on this side of the pond...

It is great heaing from you all and I too am very excited...I already have my gangster style black zoot suit and my friends flapper costume...I even found the hat online I want cause that's what I'm missing-well that and a violin case-hehehe

Brigade love,

jennifer

I'm all for this. If we wanted to go with the funeral song thing, I could design some to hand out. (Hell, I could write some! What are Fiction BFAs for??) Let me know.

i will be flying in from oklahoma to see the show in chicago on december 3rd. if any of you want to meet up and have coffee or discuss existentialism or be retarded goofy together, let me know. i've booked a room at the hyatt regency downtown to sort of be decadent all day, take uneceseccary baths and wear unnecessary bathrobes and order room service before the show.

i'll be in the city by approximately 8am and don't fly out until the next day at 3pm, so even if you can't meet before and would like to meet after for some drinks, that's fabulous too.

any brigade members, hit me up. i'd love to contribute how i can. being in the city puts me in a giving mood. i love chicgao.

Hmm.....can't really help you with the bagpipes but the coffin potentially yes...  Halloween is just around the corner so I'm sure one of us could manage to find a fake coffin somewhere...  Also, Amanda said that she would like people to advertise for the show via living statues and what not (one person being a dead Amanda and the others around her mourning her) well I think we could take it to the next step.  I'm tiny (5'3") and am totally willing to lay in a coffin at the entrance to the theater.  Stripey socks are a check and I have the same hair as Amanda.  Potentially add a bit of powder for a freakishly pale complexion and I'm dead.  Get a folding table and some sort of classy looking table cloth to put on it and the coffin can be elevated and as people enter the theater they could put little messages on provided slips of paper in the coffin...Maybe a few "Ask Amanda" questions or simple "I love you!!!! *fan squeal*.  Get the picture?

Ok, so first off the chicago brigade will once again be bringing it...

i put my idea out which honors chicago~dead amanda~and irish.

i meant to tighten it all up way sooner but life can be a fickle bitch.

so can procrastination.

i don't in fact know that i can make it after all. i am sorry.

i might need to have a more major surgery than the one i thought for something that is back...if that is the case i won't be able to fully participate...i will still be there but will need help with more of the organizing and might need to stay more on the sidelines and miss the show-i like to be upfront but will be too physically wrecked to handle a crowd especially since i don't/won't take pain meds...have two tickets and if my friend does not want them i will be giving them away...

i would however love to post the somewhat OCD outline of my brigade ideas and let you lovely, talented, vibrant, artistic~LOVELY brigaders run with it...i know how proudly and amazingly you will all represent...

so let me know and then i will get it posted asap...

and rest assured that if the timing works out or whatever i will be there to at least help as long as i have breathe in my body...which i will...i just might be a bit lighter on one side-hahaha!

ps to everyone who voted...FUCKING THANK YOU...we can and we did start to move in a better direction... :headbang:

Procrastination=Anticipation...

OK, my little pretties aka Chicago Brigaders here is an early attempt at role call...

Anyone in these threads has gotten either an email(rachel and the hottest stiltwalkers ever and richard's cranium...that's right we have music for the funeral procession-thank goddess!!!! ) and yes I will make sure it is ok and we will have no wrigley field sound competition because thank any and all baseball season is long over...whew!

Everyone else here has gotten a PM or mssg of some sort so please let me know asap what you are up for, in for, and down for yo!

As things stand here is everyone on my wee list and in no particular order:

Rachel
Richard and His Cranium productions & whatnot
Kaitlin
Ownlife
kitkite
Emmie Blythe
ghostofthegirl
*hopefully Mari
*hopefully Nick
*****hoping to hear from Mandolin Rain and friends-please come play and make rock/art/brigade love!!!!
me

ALSO:  real names~contact numbers(if you want kept pvt say so)~email, and what you want to do and how much~and nothing is too little or too much as every bit of participation is joyfully welcomed and celebrated...

Once I hear more back from all and others will post final  but hoping for at least some improv outline...

rock/art/brigade love,
jolly
 :headbang: :love5: :tongue7: :icon_rr: :headbang:

ps  here is a list of things/items i still want to find:  a burgundy/black shroud~violin or ukele cases~vintage parasols or vintage black or burgundy umbrellas...AND everyone who can to call and have their local flower shops save bags of their  dropped flower petals a few days before the show and to bring them...it is generally very affordable and yes we will be leaving flowers and gifts at dead amanda's corpse but it should also be raining/crying flowers for her that day as well don't you think?!

more to come and no i did not use spell check and yes i have been embibing my favorite spirit...
