taken under advisement.
with a little help from marie-harveline i vill zound like a naturell.

I based my accent on the exam audio question guy.
So I sound like some exam board guy from n.ireland with a cold speaking in a deep french voice.

I took a year of French in highschool.  The only thing that I am sure of today is that my name is Penelope, and that I play Judo.

this last time in france i found myself often struggling for a french word and coming up with the german word instead, which would even further confused (and possibly truly offended) my poor listeners. that being said my conversational comprehension is high and i can follow along rather well. and my accent is not terrible (most of the folks at my french label would argue, saying it's appalling and for this reason will never consider issuing a french-language EP, believe me i asked....start a petition).

I was at the Bataclan in 2006, if you meant this show, and I can say your cover of Amsterdam in french was truly beautiful. Ok, I m partial (even more cause I like Brel), but be sure we could understand every single word you sung. Indeed, first time I hear you sing french, I was impressed, cause I now french is not easy for english-speaking people.
Not saying you're fluent without accent, of course, but you don't have to feel ashamed. Go on !

Heh. Even after a week around Marie, I still sounded ridiculous when I tried to speak French. A friend said the trick is to just go for it and overemphasize what you're saying, almost like you're mocking the French. I must admit that people said I sounded more natural when I did it.

this was my experience, which resulted in the amusement and entertainment of all involved.

I did a wonderful French Immersion program in Nova Scotia last summer, so, to this date, all of my French just sounds horribly Acadian.

Which has to be one of the least romantic local dialects ever. Because bonjour sounds like "Bahn-jehr" and oui sounds like "weigh-ya".

Only thing I can say in french, apart from the basic Bonjour and je t'aime, is how to say "I don't speak any french, do you speak english?" I thought this was enough to show people that I try to make an effort, and maybe they'd make an effort to speak english with me.

I tried this, excitedly, first at a grocers. He didn't know any english, so I had to gesture my way through shopping. Oh well.

That is sweet. I would love to learn german and hebrew. I knew a lady who spoke yiddish, she was, to me at the time, your stereotypical gypsy woman, short, long black hair, layers of shawls and everything. she was such a swetie. <3

I am taking spanish one for the third fucking time this year. I'm seriously hating my schedule.
