I always knew a jumper as a simple sleeveless dress that you would wear on top of a shirt until I became friends with a British boy... after that, things got confusing! Remember the bit in Across the Universe where Lucy and Jude are talking about braces, and he says the whole "we use them to keep our trousers up" bit? We definitely had that conversation, nearly word for word.
