That's awesome!

On a sad note, my artist is in a rough spot, roommate-wise, and called me last night asking if she could move back in.

How could I say no?

If I had a tattoo of Tinks turning herself on with a light switch, I'd probably cover it up before going to a funpark filled with little kids...

Soooo, I was kind of scared to tell my father of the tattoo I'm getting, because he's against any form of bodymodification - I've had a fair share of piercings done without him knowing about it, it was always my mom who gave me permission to do this, because she's a strong believer of her children being able to express themselves in any way they want. The last piercing I had done was when I was about 17 or 18, and it was a microdermal on my arm. I had my belly button pierced when I was 13, my tragus when I was 14, my ear stretched when I was 15 (at 5mm, I expanded it myself to 8mm), my tongue pierced when I was 17, and 2 micro dermals in my arm, one when I was 17, and the other one when I was 17 or 18. Most of those piercings are gone, now, I only still have the tragus and my 8mm stretch. So my dad is all like "LOOK what you have done to your body! All these scars! They're there to stay forever! You're mutilating yourself!", but when I look that these scars I have no feelings of regret whatsoever, they just remind me of good times. And honestly, I don't get why he's bothered by little white marks on my body that are no bigger than 1 or 2 mm!

Anyway, I went for dinner with my mom, her wife and my dad tonight (an unusual situation, as my mom and dad are divorced, and I have three sisters, a brother and two brothers-in-law. So as far as family dinners go: they're usually big things, not just me and the parents) after my sister's rowing competition. So after dinner I decided to go for it, because I would feel awful not to tell them anything about it, even though I'll be 22 soon, and I don't have to explain my every move to them anymore. I told my mom "so...... my 22nd birthday is coming up". And as I suspected, she answered with "yes, I know! Any clue on what you want for your birthday?" So I said "yeah, I want a tattoo!" And my dad was all "OH MY GOD, WHAT THE FUCK! REALLY? AREN'T YOU HAPPY WITH YOUR BODY AS IT IS???" I told him "Oh yeah, I'm really happy with my body, I don't mind the way I look... I just think of a tattoo as a piece of art that you just happen to carry around with you...". My mom was all "OH MY GOD, THAT'S COOL! What are you going to get? When are you getting it done? What's it gonna look like? Who's doing it? What will it cost? OF COURSE you can have this as your birthday present!" and my stepmom was all "oooooooh, I've been wanting to get a tattoo for soooooo long, but I've never really gotten to it!"

After this conversation, it seemed like my father didn't mind as much anymore. He didn't come back to the subject and didn't seem mad at me, either.

tl;dr: My dad is okay with me getting a tattoo... I'm sorry for the rant, but I just wanted to talk to people.

My dad, upon discovery of my first tattoo (keep in mind I was 38), said to me, "What will your kids think of that?"

I responded, "They'll think it's lame but for the opposite reason you do."

Soooo, I got my tattoo today. Got up really early, had a 10am appointment in another city and had to get there by bus.

I got there and the artist, was still setting up. They'd been tattooing at a convention this weekend, so the shop was a bit messy, because afterwards they just dropped off all of their gear. So we just talked a little, while he was setting up. He's best friends with my crush (he doesn't know I have a crush on him, obviously), we talked about how he (the crush) had been fighting fire all night, after an explosion in a factory, and all kinds of other stuff. Which was nice, because it made me feel comfortable.

Then he made the print and put it on my arm, and while we were busy doing that, crush walked in, looking like a zombie because he'd been out all night, because of the fire. So I had plenty of things to take my mind of the tattooing pain (which was actually okay, it just stinged a bit). It was loads of fun, as crush and the artist were just saying nonsensical things all the time, singing along with the radio and dancing and stuff.

And, as an added bonus, I got three birthday kisses from my crush, YAY!!! :D AWESOME STUFF.

Picture of the tattoo: it's crazy swollen, so it might look like some of the dimensions aren't right. The colours are also more vibrant in real life.

And picture of the swelling:

Well, it was intended to look realistic, so mission accomplished, I'd say :D

Thanks!

And, it's not supposed to look as if it's sewn on, because I didn't like the thought of stuff being 'attached' to my body (which is kind of crazy as I have (had) multiple piercings), but ah well...
