yay i got the /'' and couldn't believe how cheap it was...also shipping....

i looooove their cover of another year. i can't believe i didn't know this band  :-\

so, i bought the 2 tracks off their website...
and i keep listening to them.
another year has almost a johnny cash feel to it that i love.

They are incredible. One of my favorite bands and hands down my favorite new ("new" as in post-2000) band...I wish that they had everything worked out to sell ALL of their stuff via Bandcamp but you should definitely buy 'em somewhere, somehow.......I recommend buying the vinyl (they really go for it with the packaging and it sounds awesome) and downloading the MP3's elsewhere.

Unfortunately, I don't have a record player and don't want to take the chance to own the vinyl away from someone who does...

I'm listening to the songs on bandcamp. The cover of Another Year sounds so different, not as melodic. I'm not very fond of the style of guitar playing (the same reason I'm not fond of albums like Sea Change) but it picks up by "this weather turns my tricks to RUST". It reminds me of a field in the middle of nowhere with a rusty truck in a long-dried pool. The string arrangement is gorgeous.

That's admirable but if you want it, get it. It's supporting two great artists and who's to say a) You won't ever get a record player b) You won't be the person to give it to someone that it means the world to in a few years c) Some person that does have a record player will appreciate it as much as some other random person who doesn't? I gotcha, but I also think you should get it if any part of you wants it...

I already loved the original version of Three Men Hanging, so I didn't really know what else Amanda could bring to this song.
But I just listened to it then, and she took it to a whole new level of awesomeness.

Murder by Death in General has a bit of johnny cash feel to them....I think that may have something to do with why I like them so much...but definately in another year!! my dad even said that when I made him listen to it
