i drum and play some bass. that's about it.

i used to write songs, but i quit and started writing short stories instead.

i also played violin for almost 9 years, but stopped... also stopped playing guitar, piano, cello, and marimba.

I have a couple of lines stuck in my head, and I like them...

This is for a song about how I hate being young.

"Above all things, I hate my age,
but less so with each passing day.
I hate to be upon this stage,
reminded of my naivete...

There is method in my madness
and mirth in my malaise..."

I need to play a lead instrument first, then I'll have actual songs of my own. I play bass...
Learn ukulele, thats what I did.
I was actually considering that, I'd like to test one before buying one though. I don't know anyone that has one and the music stores here are bitches. A friend of mine bought his drums and both his keyboards from one store, and they kicked us out for trying out another keyboard for a friend. EH.
I never played one before I had mine. Great purchase! It is sooo easy to play.
Yeah? It seems pretty basic, is it easy to find tabs online? Also, how much will one run ya?
I got some tabs from someone here on the box, I can pm them to you if you'd like. For a decent quality one you will spend a little under 200$. I also got a concert sized Uke, just because they are a little bit bigger and sound fuller.
That'd be great. I'm now attempting to get my brother to get one that I might "borrow." Haha

i play guitar as my main instrument, and i dabble in piano and banjo

ive been writing songs since early 2004, and been recording songs since then too in my home studio.

pictures of my memories
frozen in time
pictures of where i once was
so much has changed
pictures of moments
ill never see again
long lost past memories
and nothing will last

where are you???
please dont leave....
can you please stay?
sit here with me...

theres time i remember
and thing i forget
i look at all the memories
theres things i regret
i think of what i did to you
its all like a dream
i just wanted a way to get through
show you what i mean
all of these pictures
its too much for me

where are you???
please dont leave....
can you please stay?
sit here with me...

looking at it all....
so much has changed
ive gotten much older
but my life is the same
nothing is different
from where it was years ago
im in the same mind set
and im still alone....
pictures dont help me
there only reminders
of what i once had
and how i had failed...

where are you???
please dont leave....
can you please stay?
sit here with me...
please dont leave
please dont leave
stay here with me....

i wrote this a few nights ago...its basically about looking through pictures and you remember these moments and there all frozen in time there, pictures often take you back to places you once were, and you remember people you one knew and loved...and how you watched those same people leave your life in various times. because life is really just a series of flashes...*flash* a summer from your youth*  *flash* your girlfriend in a pretty dress*  *flash* something i should have held onto.....its basically about that...pictures frozen in time...

This is a cool thread, I wish I'd seen it earlier.

I have some songs up on youtube. They're... mediocre. Better than my frist ones. I only started writing a few months ago. If anyone wants to critic, that'd be cool I can send links and stuff.

I wanna hear what other people have too, I LOVE hearing other people's original stuff. ^_^

I sing like a Yorkshire farmer with rickets, a flat cap and a whippet and everything ^.^

Still, some lines I'm especially proud of are:

One day I'll learn how to play this damn thing and write songs using more than just four open chords
One day I'll take off on these dusty wings, in a nation of shop-keepers, I'll be whore

You're the burnt orange sunset on a Mexican plane, you're a bright April day and it's sunny outside
(ok, bit of a reference there!)
You're gale force winds and horizontal rain, you're the Name, you're the Word, you're the whole battle-cry

and

I don't want to waste my breath when there's nothing worthwhile left to be said
and I don't want to waste my time when you quite clearly think I've lost my mind

I'm told I'm a good singer...not a musical bone in my body though.
