Due to natures beyond our control we've lost our gamers. I am going through D&D withdrawl.  Every Sunday night it was wonderful to kick back and play until the wee hours. . .

How can I go about finding some new players? Hubby is a bit of a laid back DM but we don't want to just post on like Craigslist for a bunch of psychos to come into our home (or worse fundies who are going to tell us we're going to hell for gaming!).

Any ideas?

Do you have a local gaming store? I'd put up signs there, and meet with the prospective group first before inviting them into your home. It seems safer than posting on CL.

Yes hubby knows where the gaming store is but doesn't want to just go out and talk to perfect strangers. LOL. I cannot imagine playing online - for me it is not the same and I'd run the risk of never getting offline - lol.

I had suggested once that I set up a chat to get all our old gamers from back home so we could game and he refused. LOL.

It's a mixed experience. I game online at http://z9.invisionfree.com/Travellers_Respite with people I've now known for over a year, but it can be weird with strangers. Plothook is good as well.

I think that is really the BEST way. . . very few rules and lots more creative fun.

I had one DM who used to make us fill in these stupid bubbles every time we did a spell. And if there was a casting time we sat out for those number of rounds. It kinda sucked. The way hubby DMs is as long as we don't abuse a spell we don't have to count it - and all spells are instant and we don't need spell components. The only real house rule we have is BLAH and Say What You Mean.
