London tube help!
« on: January 26, 2009, 05:28:53 PM »

Hi

(i've checked all the threads and can't find anything with 'london' and 'tube' in it amongst all the london brigading threads!!)

4th Feb - those of you who live in London, how long to we need to leave to get from The Electric Ballroom to Victoria coach station at night? (our coach is at midnight and its the LAST ONE!!) eek!

^^ and what time do the tubes run until too....

I know i can check on a timetable but just needed to know from a local's point of view/experience!

Thank you in advance for any help!

The tubes are crazy crazy crazy. I have no idea about when the tubes stop. And I ALWAYS have trouble getting home.
I think you'll be alright with the tube, though. I just used www.tfl.gov.uk to see how you'd get from Camden Town to Victoria at 11.40pm and it still has the tube thing up, which means they're still going at that time.
But the public transport in London is unreliable as hell, so I suggest you check it again closer to the day (with the site I put the link to before).

I hope some of that made sense.

tube-wise, I reckon getting from Camden to Victoria wouldn't take more than 25-minutes/half an hour (it's at the most only five or six stops on the Northern then Victoria lines). But you should give yourself 10 minutes more than that (at least) to get out of the tube at Victoria and get to the coach station (which is outside the station and up the road a bit). It'd probably be wise to factor in possible tube delays too.

Both the Northern and Victoria lines run til after midnight (last trains are generally between about 20 past midnight and 1am).

To be on the safe side (if your coach leaves Victoria at midnight) I'd make sure you're on a tube headed south by about 11:15pm latest.

A taxi from Camden to Victoria won't be cheap, you're looking at between £15 and £25, I'd have thought, as it's charged by time and there's quite a lot of sitting at lights and stuff.

When my friend was playing The Purple Turtle a while ago we got a mini-cab to Victoria and that was £12, I think.

It is indeed but taxis are always more than mini-cabs
