I seriously think we all just need to make a pact to stop talking about this whole thing. We have dedicated an entire thread to the guy for God's sake, he's not worth it. It's a good thing that the bitching is all being "contained" here, but seriously - we're giving him/her/whatever exactly the attention that they came here for.

And I wonder why he doesn't really post a lot in the threads that are actually about The Dresden Dolls?
He seems to stick to Anarchy an awful lot.
I mean, I like the Anarchy boards, but why isn't he posting in some of the Dresden Dolls threads?

Yeah. I wondered the same thing. It's just weird to go onto a forum devoted to a band, and then not post anything about the band...

Damn. You're right not to be embarrassed Sarah, that's really messed up. I'm not a believer but I would never insult a person's faith like that. Faith is really personal and it can be such a fundamental part of a person. Each to their own, I say!

I don't really understand what upset people.  It's an odd thing to do, but as was stated above, it's not the first time someone has done it.  I just am a little surprised that people are so emotionally invested in a message board (even the Shadowbox) that they could be so effected (affected? I will never remember which) by this.

what you have to understand is that it is not the fake identity that upset me about alice. it wasn't the fact that s/he wasn't really who they said they were. we all are a little different on the internet than we are in 'real life'. yes, this was taking it a step too far, i think. but that is not what made me upset. i couldn't give a rat's arse if someone is so unhappy with their own personality that they want to create a new one, nor if they are just doing it for shits and giggles. what upset me was that alice flamed my beliefs and my faith in pm's to me. s/he called me crazy for believing in god and decided that because my life wasn't all roses and sunshine, that that was proof that there was no god. i respected the fact that alice pretended to be an atheist (what s/he really is, i don't know or care at this point) because i never ever flame anybody's beliefs. alice was completely remiss with and rude about mine.

i am not embarrassed that i got emotionally connected to these comments. i'm a little disappointed in myself for letting someone on the internet upset me, but certainly not embarrassed.

I wouldn't want you to feel embarrassed about anything.  Still, though, I just have a difficult time understanding.  Obviously, I have no idea what was said in the PM's and you have every right to feel how and whatever you feel.  I guess what really surprised me was the fact that anyone would get upset about comments from someone who was very obviously unhinged (whether the character or the actual person).  As a Christian, you are probably used to having your beliefs questioned.  So, I guess what I was trying to say is, why let yourself be effected by someone you don't know, have no previous relationship with, and is obviously saying things just to get a reaction?  But again, I don't know the details of what was said and since there is the no posting of PM's rule (right?), I really won't ever know the details.

I don't post in the threads about the Dolls because I didn't see that there was anything I could add. I still keep up with four of the threads in the General Discussion section on the band.

And Sean, 6,000+ posts isn't that unusual at the Respite. Both Zousha and Rhy have more. Rhy has more than 9,000.
