SET-LISTS: Share them here!!
« on: February 07, 2009, 03:00:18 PM »

I got this okay'd by Beth first. Just lemme have the first four or five posts because I'm not sure how much space this will all take up.

Purpose: Archive a list of all known past shows in addition to their setlists, links to the threads on their discussions, and information about any recordings if available.

Most of the setlist information was contributed by shadowboxers as the shows happened; the compilation of basically everything up until 2008 was done by a user known as rhinowing who doesn't seem to post anymore. There has been no public organization of this information to my knowledge for about a year, so I thought it would be good to do this; making it on the shadowbox makes it 10 times more accessible than if it's on a separate website, and all in all I just thought this would be a good way to do it.

edit: yeah, this is way uglier than i imagined.

1)For New Year's '00/'01, I'm told there was a private show at Cloud Club. Long story short, I can't confirm it but am pretty sure the guy's telling the truth. Anyway, that'd put the Pan9 show at an earlier point, probably early or mid-December. The timeline makes sense because, at the New Year's shindig, Amanda apparently asked the crowd what they thought of "the new drummer" or something along that line.

b)A wiki would probably be more manageable. Something like this bad boy.

It's mostly all there. I'll probably update 07, 08, and 09 here as well, though, until they're complete-ish, because a lot of the information will probably be here.

Jesse, first of all - WOW! So much typing and cross-archiving in there - nice one!

When you get to adding late 2008 to your other site, there was a gig at Custard Factory, Birmingham, UK on 3rd October 2008 - it got missed out of the official listings a few times. There's bound to be an accurate setlist hanging around somewhere.

AND - i dont know if you're listing smaller gigs/events but Amanda performed Point of It All, Astronaut and Coin Operated Boy at Matthew Boulton College intimate seminar in Birmingham on the same day.

for the record, the northeastern university and afterhours gig are indeed the same.  afterhours is the "nightclub" here, complete with a signed dresden dolls poster framed on the wall.
oh, and if you're most definitely doing everything that's ever happened, amanda performed a crazy fun "umbrella" at one of the org parties this summer at the cloud club, 2008/07/19.

This is going to be amazing.

Also, in conjunction with finding live bootlegs and videos - I know there were things that were recorded, but never publicly released - will this account for those too?

I'm gonna wait until it's more updated before I contribute any of the random info I know from the shows/instore that I've been to (since they arent really rare or obsecure)

1/1/09

Bowery Ballroom - LATE New Year's Eve Show - doors opened at 2:00am

I believe Emilyn got on stage around 3am and Amanda took the stage at 3:30am.
Amanda left the stage at 5:30am.

Support: Emilyn Brodsky with band (featuring Brian Viglione on bass)

Amanda Palmer solo show billed with the Danger Ensemble

I don't remember the order of the setlist , but here's the songs that I remember, I think all of them are accounted for -

Originals:

Astronaut
Oasis
Runs in the Family
Leeds United
Point of it All
Another Year
Ampersand
Trout Heart Replica

Dresden Dolls Songs:

Slide
Coin-Operated Boy
Girl Anachronism

Covers:
In Between Days [the Cure] (played with Brain on bass)*
Fake Plastic Trees [Radiohead]*
Tainted Love [Soft Cell] (with crowd participation)
Apocalypse Please [Muse] (first public performance of this cover)
My Favorite Things [Sound of Music]
Uh-Merica [Regina Spektor] (crowd participation)
Hallelujah [Leonard Cohen]

Stage Performances**
I Kissed a Girl [Katy Perry] (the same FUCK PROP 8 bit that Amanda did with DE in LA)
Girls on Film [Duran Duran] (this was during Amanda's "few minutes of photo-op posing" with the Danger Ensemble)

* denotes songs on ukulele
** refers to stage performances by Amanda and the DE while the original recordings were played through the PA - so these are not covers, just stage pieces.

She DEFINITELY ended the set with Hallelujah and the first 3 songs were DEFINITELY: In Between Days, Fake Plastic Trees and Apocalypse Please!

Video playlist:

http://www.youtube.com/view_play_list?p=1E3C93EDE1914778

Order of the videos in the playlist:

* Tainted Love [Soft Cell cover]
* Oasis
* FUCK PROP 8 skit with the Danger Ensemble
* Hallelujah [Leonard Cohen cover]
* Ughmerica [Regina Spektor cover]
* Fake Plastic Trees [Radiohead cover] - ukulele
* Apocalypse Please [Muse cover]
* In Between Days [The Cure cover] - has Brian on bass (the first song of Amanda's set)
* Point of it All Intro with Amanda talking about the drunk crowd
* The end of Coin-Operated Boy (where Tora and Kat grope AFP while she's playing the song)
* Friday I'm In Love [The Cure cover] performed by Emilyn Brodsky, who opened the show with Brian on bass

When people make these things they make my heart smile.

That, and if you ever work some script that tells me exactly how many times (per set lists you have) that any song I want to look up was played, well, my statistic loving self will love you.

That would require databases, database programming, etc. I started to work on a site like this back in '05 but I never finished it. I had the basic idea down but never coded it up. C'est la vie.

I did a text-only archive of shows from 2000 to mid-07. not sure if that's still around. it had a bunch of stuff included from reading through the entire tour forum and shows from Johnny that I'm not sure is included in this...i think I sent someone on here all the file at one point. It was hosted on deletefactory.net if anyone remembers

sorry, I meant to list what I could remember and then probably got distracted by something shiney on the internet...

Astronaut
Girl Anachronism

Missed Me (unsure of when)

New songs

The Problem With Saints (sung by Neil)

Delilah (w/ Georgia from Bitter Ruin)

Tim Minchin guest song

Tom Robinson - Sing if You're Glad to be Gay

Map of Tasmania (on the ukulele)
In My Mind (on the ukulele)

Oasis (slipped into an upbeat dance song.... but I forget which)
Leeds United

.... and 3 days on I remember even less. sigh. The only few I'm sure of the order on are listed with out spacing.

err so i realise this is a few months alte but in case you still wanted the setlist, I cleverly took photos with clever visuals, slash recorded 5 seconds of video at the beginning of songs that had no clear clues, for this exact purpose :)

Astronaut
Girl Anachronism
Missed Me
Guitar Hero
Delilah (w/Bitter Ruin)
The Problem With Saints (w.Neil Gaiman)
The Flowers (w/The Jane Austen Argument)
Want It Back
Lost
Massachusetts Avenue
Olly
Never Tear Us Apart
Runs In The Family
Oasis/Twist and Shout
--
Map of Tasmania
In My Mind
You Grew On Me (Tim Minchin)
Glad To Be Gay (Tom Robinson)
Leeds United

Set list from Village Underground, London 20/06/12 (06/20/12 for the American's)

Alterations include no Map of Tasmania or the additional encore of Walk On The Wild Side or Uke Anthem and no requests were taken, it ran over time anyway I think! Also it wasn't in this order, Girl Anachronism was played a lot later in the set.

From setlist.fm, the correct order for the London gig:

Do It With A Rockstar
The Killing Type
Lost
Missed Me
Trout Heart Replica
The Bed Song
Psycho
Half Jack
Total Control
Want It Back
Girl Anachronism
Massachusetts Avenue
Berlin
Olly Olly Oxen Free
--
Astronaut
Leeds United

So it's not really as different as I thought - just Girl A that was moved further down.

Trout Heart Replica
Lost
The Bed Song
Berlin
Careless Whisper (George Michael cover featuring Ronald Reagan)

it's on here: http://www.setlist.fm/setlist/amanda-palmer-and-the-grand-theft-orchestra/2012/terminal-5-new-york-ny-3bda44a8.html

But I'm not too sure as to how accurate it is, considering Amanda mentioned having playing sing on her twitter if I recall correctly.

The link posted seems to be correct expect for the last song. They did "Sing" not "Another Year. After the show Amanda came to the VIP section and played "Ukulele Anthem."

Hi, everyone! Wow, it's been a long time and I hope you'll accept me back because I need some help! I know we're all AFP-obsessed here, but I went to the Sept 11 show in NYC in 2012 (I didn't see a set list here) and I absolutely loved her openers! There was a girl who performed and had a lovely voice, I don't know who she was! I can't seem to find it by googling, either :\ Any ideas? Maybe a video would help. http://youtu.be/C0K458CVYQc
I think Jherek played with her for a little of her set, or maybe Chad.
