Webcomics
« on: March 10, 2009, 07:11:17 PM »

So, as far as I could tell, there are no topics on the subjest already (other than people promoting their own), which I find crazy, so we should totally talk webcomics! Sure comic books are nice, and graphic novels are great, but I tend to find my favorite comics up on the interweb. The only thing that blows is 80% of them suck, since anyone can make one (just look at my old one XD).
Heres a list of some of my favorites:

El Goonish Shive - My favorite for nearly 6 years. Don't be too scared by the first few months, (he drew like a newt) he got better.. anyway, lots of magic and aliens, gender transformation and squirrel/human hybrid weirdness.
Khaos Komix - I just found this one yesterday, I pretty much love it. Lots of LGBT angsty lovey goodness. (edit:I just read all the way through this, I am really rather fond of it.)
Something New - This ones finished, takes place in Japan, more gay goodness.
VG Cats - This ones pretty popular, you'll appreciate it if youre into video games.
Powerpuff Girls Doujinshi Really fucking popular comic about a buch of Cartoon Network/Nickelodeon charachters, esp. The Powerpuff Girls and Dexters Lab...and shut up, I liked that show!
Neko The Kitty I just love it for some reason. Strip about a lazy cat, his goth owner and his slew of illigitimate offspring with the neighbors cat. Think an angry Garfield who swears a lot.
Clan Of The Cats Good fantasy comic about witches and vampires and werewolves oh my. And cats, don't forget cats.
Lowroad 75-The best one, Lowroad, can be found in a zip file somewhere on the site, there are two other related comics, The Smashing Adventures of The Bottomleys, and the current comic, Giselle, which are good, but the magic is gone. Great strip about a young punky girl, her friends, and a demon trapped in a stuffed Piggy (he says that he's gonna destroy the world..but later). Yes.
Allan - Found this one the other day, this kid Allan started a public diary in comic form, it's surprisingly entertaing.

This isn't the same thing, since these were firstly physical comics meant for purchase, but older comics can be read online at www.htmlcomics.com. Up until recently it was totally free, but I think a small fee might be added on soon.

Fukcking A, QC's awesome. I follow:

The Order of the Stick (http://www.giantitp.com/comics/oots.html). Very funny, stick men drawings about D&D.
Something Positive (http://www.somethingpositive.net/). Been going for years, very witty and snide comic about some guy and his friends.
Red String (http://redstring.strawberrycomics.com/index.html). Graphic novel about a couple in an arranged marriage. Really well drawn, and very emotion-grabbing.

QC is the shit.

I think my all time faveorite is Penny and Aggie. T Campbell and Gisele write it. Her art is amazing and he's a great writer.  I like this for the high school drama.

Another faveorite of mine is Wapsi Square. The guy who writes it is friggen brillant!!

Fuck yeah.

I used to read a lot of Vg-cats.
There was also this one about a guy who slept with a lot of women and it was really funny, I can't remember the name. And I lost it in my tragic rebuilding computer accident.

Perry Bible Fellowship's excellent, but sadly doesn't seem to be updated much anymore  :'(

They are apparently making a TV show, though.

Here's some of my favourites, but they're all on http://www.pbfcomics.com

I ADORE 8-bit theater.  I'd recommend it to death.  It's geared towards video game nerds but I'm sure most of you could appreciate it.  He has 1138 pages to date and I've been following it since there was just a few hundred.
