Got my first ever uke last week. It's just a cheap Mahalo one, but I love it.
I also want to paint it.. but scared I will ruin it!

i like the look of your ukulele!
my uke is a pretty standard white makalo, i love him so but i hope to upgrade him one day (:
i did a little 30 people workshop with the wellington international ukulele orchestra last year, it got me so inspired and now that i have some, albeit small, amount of uke knowledge i'm looking around for a new little friend!

if you're a fan of uke music you should check them out, they do pretty great covers!
(one of their members is from flight of the conchords too)

their cds are AMAZING, and they're so good live
until very recently (they got too popular!) they practiced once a week in a cafe for a couple of hours
there's nothing like an early morning ukulele singalong to get the day off to a good start!

I'm getting my first one next week, and also a friend of mine is working on a custom one for me which is exciting!
I'm really anxious to learn it quickly so I can take one to Glastonbury and away when I go travelling.

My Canada!ukulele with ghetto capo, constructed by myself and Hayley...

And my NZ!ukulele, modelled by my friend Sam (who is dressed as George Harrison, in case you were wondering, but his wonderful 'Jesus' hair is all his)

I have two::

The one on the right is my first ukulele: I bought her back in August of '08. The one on the left is my pride and joy, my electric-acoustic Applause. I've had her for about a month and a half. :]

I think simultaneously the best and worst thing right now is that I was about to post a picture of my harmonica and claim to be confused, then remembered that I actually own a ukulele but that it's on the other side of the country.

Argh stop it...you're making me want to get one now, and if I do, I may as well trade my degree in for it. What I need to be working on is my dissertation, not learning chords.

...yet.

I'm buying one eventually. I really want a banjolele, just because of the awesome factor of a tiny banjo. But they're really expensive. For those of you who don't know:

13-3/4" scale length, 8" body, 22" overall. Almost identical to the soprano ukulele, but it's shaped like a banjo, and sounds kind of like one too.

They are too expensive, but i'd kill or one.
