the internet can be kind
It's a trick.....   :evil7:

I was reminded that rush-hour drivers are, as a group, pretty damn stupid, and it's a marvel
that dozens of commuters aren't killed, just in my little city, every single day...

there's definitely some kind of catering-related morphic field on the go because yesterday i had to make something like sixty large black americanos (which nobody ever drinks because fuck that have an espresso) and then today i put the same order (smoked duck salad + salami and mozza panini) into the kitchen about five times.
some days people will buy lots of blackforest slice but the next day it's lemon cake then it's those rank little italian pastries that we're supposed to push on everyone idk

something in the water i guess

I just went on a BMI calculator, and Seamy and I are both apparently in the obese range, by about one stone each. Very upset. This after having spent a week with my mother telling me I'm fat and my hair is shit. Had a big cry to the boy on the phone, and he's promised to lose weight with me, starting when I get back. I'm so fucking upset though. I knew we were a bit overweight, but I never thought it was this bad. Am making a list of things we can do when I go back so that we can stay focussed. I feel really fucking shit about myself right now though.

Indja - you're not obese,
but I'm not surprised your BMI is high
(seen enough photos of you)

And that means you have a choice, between

- getting the BMI down, and being fitter (exercise),
which gives most people a longer and healthier life.

and

- continuing as you are, with the pleasures that lifestyle has

Instead of focusing on losing weight why not focus on getting healthier - weight loss will come if you do it right and just getting fitter will make you feel better. Cut down on booze, cut back on the takeaway/fast food and walk everywhere. Walk even if you don't have to go anywhere (just don't freeze to death, I hear it gets a little chilly where you are).

Seriously don't focus too much on the BMI though. It really is a load of rubbish.

Oh and your hair is lovely.

 O0

Such a bollocks that they despised it when I started working out on the gym club. And if you both are commited on losing weight, do it to get healthy. No stupid diets or shit like that. Alas, if you are comfortable with your looking, is another reason to do so to be healthier and not "just fit".

Btw, according to BMI, Im almost underweight.

Yeah!

....and sorry, it's simply not as straightforward as (height)/(secret formula) = How healthy are you...

BMI is one indicator of health and (un)healthy weight.
it's better than weight and height,
which is one reason BMI has become been more widely used

Measuring the % of body fat of a body's weight is a bit more accurate

If BMI is high, it's wise to look at other indicators,
and fully evaluate the situation.
almost always, you need to lose weight and exercise more

for me, not eating simply carbohydrates (sugars, and processed starches)
is all i have to do to keep my weight under control.
for me, this removes the craving for more of the same,
and the conflict of wanting to eat more than i should

look into
- blood glucose levels
- low glycemic index
- low glycemic load

I'm apparently obese also.
It bothered me at first, but then I got over it.
I eat healthy the majority of the time, I spend all day running round on my feet.
But on the other hand, I don't eat enough, and I'm still classed as obese.
So BMI's are crap.
You don't look obese from photos I've seen.

Well, I've put on a lot of weight in the last few months - i.e, since hooking up with Seamus xD Thanks for saying all that stuff about the BMIs being rubbish, I don't feel like I'm obese or anything, but I know that I am overweight and VERY unhealthy. I mean, I've not smoked since September and that's helped, but my diet's taken a real turn for the worse recently. I think both me and Seamy could do with losing some weight, just to be fitter and healthier and actually happier as well. I've talked to him a lot about it since then because it's really upset me, and we've decided that things like drinking water or squash instead of Coke all the time, and cooking real meals (with vegetables!) instead of eating take-aways and ready-meals and stuff are all things that are really easy to do, and that will probably make a big difference. We walk everywhere anyway, because neither of us drive (I don't know how, and he can't afford to keep a car or a bike even if he could scrape together enough to buy one in the first place), but we don't really go anywhere - he lives ten minutes from my college, where I also live, and his work is only half an hour's walk away.

However! I really want to go walking in the countryside, because I miss it terribly, and he says he's happy to come with me and try and be healthier together rather than just me doing it. I'm also determined to get back into rugby, especially after talking to my dad about it. He's coached women's rugby since year dot, and says that an experienced player, especially one who can play right across the front row, would be really valuable and that they'd probably be more than happy to have me. So that's something :)

I've made a list of things that we could do, changes to make and things to be aware of, and I've also made a list of things I used to do when I went a bit mad a while back and basically stopped eating and started puking. That's what I'm really afraid of now, that I'll fall into an unhealthy pattern of behaviour again, but I think that with Seamy's help and as long as he's aware of what to look out for and aware that it might happen, it shouldn't be too big a problem.

So, here's to being healthy and happy! :D
