All part of the Met's complete care package.

I believe it's called job security.

In this economy, we could all use a little help from the government.  If that help comes in the form of blunt objects that help medical professionals keep their heads above water, I say, "yes" to the stimulus.

See, if people didn't bitch so much about paying their taxes, maybe the constabulary
could afford to hire both stormtroopers AND medics...  As it stands now, though, they
all have to wear many hats....

It's all you r fault, really....

(Oh, and yeah, seriously...   He probably  is both a regular police  officer and a trained medic,
allowing  them  to have faster response  for people who  call for medical emergencies.  IMHO,
that makes a lot better sense than our system...  We send the fire department, in their giant
gas-guzzling fire engine, to provide EMT support for ambulance calls.)

Also, I'm just noticing...  It seems  pretty much all of the so-called protesters being dispersed by the
cops are more interested in taking pictures than protesting.   A couple of them appear to have pretty
nice cameras...  What's up with that?

Someone is wielding a scythe back at the pigs?

I know it's most likely not a scythe, but at first glance it looked like one.

Notice what appears to be another "reaper" on the left side of the pic.  (So, yeah,
it probably is a scythe.)

I believe they are effigies of some sort, probably at least as related to the matter
being protested as the cameras are.....

Yes, because the average protester, being white and middle class, couldn't possibly afford a nice camera, could they? [/shockhorror] And I don't bitch about paying taxes, or about police medics who do riot action as well. I do bitch about the police treatment of protestors during the g20 protests, because I have a friend who was there with an environmental group. She said her march, which was completely peaceful, was hemmed in by police and made to remain in one alley for three hours, until other marches were over.

At the same time, I complain about the attitude of other protesters, the ones who got most media coverage; they were stupid and violent and deserved to be clobbered. I also complain about the media that covered the event, because while the coverage was very balanced on the actual day, it entirely focused on the violent bits in the following days. And, as usual, the vast majority of the protests weren't like that.

I don't know how it is in the UK, but in Poland, for a protest to be legal you have to do a few things, like plan the route, which has to be accepted by the city council, and a few other things. So all the other prostests can be called illegal and dispersed.

I'm pretty sure you have to do that here as well. Though you're not allowed to protest outside Downing Street anymore.
