"The Gillard Government is blocking the marriages of gay Australians in New York.

When New York state's new equal marriage law takes effect on July 27th same-sex couples from other countries will be able to marry there if they provide a Certificate of Non-Impediment to Marriage (CNI) to show they are not already married in their home country.

But the Australian Government refuses to give such certificates to same-sex couples intending to marry overseas, a policy defended by Julia Gillard as recently as the 14th of June, 2011."

Can she just step down from PM already? Idiot idiot idiot.

More and more I am convinced that I should join the Greens. Our political system basically boils down to whether you want the insane conservative party that wants to cut spending or the insane conservative party that wants to spend modestly.

What the fuck? She sounds like a child who just wants to make everyone else miserable because someone stole her favourite rattle or something.

today in my history class the teacher and another student were discussing religion and he said to her that she must hate gays because she's christian and she said:
"i don't hate gay people, i have no problem with them. it's not right for me, no, but if they choose to be like that, that's fine. as long as it isn't flaunted in front of me."

i was so tempted to join the argument and tell her it's not a choice...
if you ever do, you might also mention her use of the word 'flaunt' when almost every ad, every show, movie, everything is almost 100% geared towards heterosexuality, and the abundant practice thereof.

or you could go the Dan Savage route and tell her that if she really thinks it's a choice, she can prove it by choosing to have sex with you.  8)

dude... you just made my day. lol.

Funnily enough, i just spent the last week on a Christian/ study camp, and had fun debating with a couple of camp leaders on issues of homosexuality and differences in world views in general... they didn't manage to sway me, it even strengthened my own perspective.
no offence intended to anyone here who is Christian - i went on the camp to study, and the debates were unavoidable, and i'm not the kind of person to bow to peer pressure. so i stuck up for my opinions, in a manner that was as respectful to their views as i could manage.

The general public of Ireland (but not the political class) are strongly in favour of intellectual, academic, beard-grower, and big fat homo, Senator David Norris as the next President.

Anyway, you're just walking around with these teeth in your vagina and you think it's normal cos like, who do you ask about that shit? Then, one day you go to have sex with someone & they're all "WHY DOES YOUR VAGINA HAVE A TOOTH IN IT?" That'd be damn awkward.

I've heard almost nothing about the presidential campaign.

I think I'm going to start going to this LGBT walking group in Belfast called Out & About. My only concerns are that they're all a fair bit older than me, so I want to take Seamy with me at first, and while I am 99.9% sure it won't be a problem, it feels a bit weird going to an LGBT thing with my boyfriend xD

Heck, I'd go because it has to be a heck of a lot more fun than just a plain walk.

As we've heard on this site in the past, LGBT groups have been known to discriminate against transsexuals, so discriminating against bisexuals in straight relationships isn't entirely out of the realms of possible. I do hope it's okay, though.

i'll be the first to admit that the lgbt can be more hard to crack than a country club.

In Finland, there's two certain candidates for presidential election next spring and one of them is a gay man. I think he's unlikely to win even though he seems like a sound guy... Not because he's gay though, but because he's in the green party, and I doubt they'd elect a president from a smaller party like that.
