why do people insist on asking if you're sure when you tell them you're gay? i swear it happens to me almost every time i tell somebody.

and it happens exactly like this almost every time:

i like girls
are you sure?
yes, i'm pretty damn certain.
but what if you meet a really nice guy?
well, then i'll be friends with him.
never say never!
okay, sure..never say never.

pffft.

either that or coming out to someone and then later them asking if you're still gay.

Spent a lovely weekend with the SO over at a house that belongs to a gay couple friends of ours on Saturday after Friday Night Drag Show at Traxx. I received a few compliments about the mustache, but one stood out. This fine piece of chocolate goodness has practically fucking me with his eyes as he was complimenting my mustache.

It's nice to know that at nearly 40, I've still got it. ;D

Wishful thinking, dear. Take the compliment in the manner it was intended.

They screwed with my geek camp's queer discussion group this year  >:( It was heart breaking...

Also, apparently people get beat up at my school for being gay so I don't know if I'll be peeing rainbows everywhere this year

HAHAHA

This reminded me of a really obvious and crappy chat up I got put upon by a lesbian at work the other week.  She basically was staring at me all night and when I got a free moment, all she could come up with was 'did that hurt?' and point at my lip piercing.  I said it did at first, now it doesn't, and she smiled creepily at me for a minute, so I silently turned away.  Might have responded with a bit of work flirt-banter if she'd bothered to come up with something original.

I vote Agonistes should come and show how to do what she was trying to do properly... ;)

not everyone can do it with the same disarming smile, and nonchalance.  some stuff just cannot be taught.

True.  She was probably a lost cause.  Her smile made me feel violated as opposed to disarmed.

of course, even my own disarming smile has no power against my total-warfare leer.

You are aware that next year I am going to have to point to people and say 'disarm' or 'leer' at bars.

i support it.

in 2008 i realised that i really liked girls...and then in 2010 i came out to people as bisexual...and then about 8 months ago when i was with my ex-boyfriend i became really uninterested in *that* aspect of our relationship... and a few months ago i lost a lot of interest in guys... i concluded to myself that i was something like 70% gay and 30% straight... but about 10 minutes ago i realised that i'm more like 99% gay and 1% straight (not that these percentages are anything important, it's just something for myself)
which is good because i've been pretty darn confused for the past 10-ish months.
