The original was a UK miniseries, and the US took it and remade it a little and also fleshed it out and made their own story line....in the later seasons.

I used to like The L Word and I'm okay with it now, but then I watched Queer as Folk and I realized that The L Word copied a lot of things from there.
And Shane seems like a bad imitation Brian.
In my opinion, Queer as Folk has more depth, and is just a better show in general...

Never could get into this show myself. Granted, I think I've only seen a coupla episodes from season two, but that was more than enough for me to get the feel the show had zero substance. It had incredibly hot women making out every three minutes, sure, and it was sexy as fuck, but just like Queer As Folk, the writers forgot to actually have some plot and storylines to go with those characters. And unfortunately, sexy girls or sexy guys simulating sex is not enough for me to keep watching a show. There's porn if that's what I want to see. Nevertheless, Shane rocks. The one character I thought was interesting and the best-acted one.

Disagree. In my opinion the character of Shane was a total cliche/caricature, albeit an entertaining one at times, but really lacking in any form of character development whatsoever. I also think Katherine Moennig is a fairly bad actor, and there were a few actors on that show who managed to do a lot with the often questionable material they had to work with. Jennifer Beals is incredible. And Leisha Hailey becomes increasingly more awesome as the show progresses.

I thought the character of Shane actually changed a lot through out the seasons, but at the same time tried to hold on to her old self.
In my opinion Max was the most interesting character aside from Dana (I'm still mourning)

I guess I can't really explain why I was drawn to Shane and not any of the other characters. I just was, for some reason. I do disagree with Moenning being a bad actor, though, as I thought that, given the material she was, she did a good job. But then again, I did only watch two or so eps. My perception could have changed had I stuck with the series all the way through.

Awsome, he looks so hot right there.
I've decided to date the male version on Carmen at some point.
