If you need someone else to be an operator, I'd be willing to help out. I've never done it before but if you need someone, I'm up for it.

does that mean we can't get Amanda to wear the princess Leia outfit?

On a serious note.... would be great to make a large puppet like this, but I do not have a workshop or the money....
something like this requires a large space to create and also requires a largish vehicle for transport.....

not if you go down the chinese dragon route
collapsible kite like frame... fabric and have a detailed head and hands created

then its just carrying fabric 3 sculpts and a bundle of sticks and connectors

now needs a body and arms, plus all those little extras like hair, feathers etc to make it come alive

and Johnny even a chinese dragon style puppet requires a decent size sapce to build it in, which I simply do not have.
If someone else feels inspired to try it then please go ahead!

The puppets so far are completely awesome Robin...

I've been thinking about the sort of "queue entertainment" we'll be doing, and I'm starting to get a tad worried. I'm really concerned that I'll just be a pitiful third-rate ventriloquist, I've never done anything of the sort before. Ahh.

I am creating sock puppets for the brigade to hand out and will probably me making about a hundred or so, although I can't offer my time to entertain at the fringe when I get there which I'm pretty sad about. Nothing on the scale of Robin's epic puppets(probably more along the lines of childrens attempts as I am rubbish) but I am making Amanda/Dolls themed ones. So far there shall be a mix of these prototypes.

Wizard ('When the wizard gets to me I'm asking for a smaller heart')
Cat ('I can't trap a mouse, but I can pet a cat')
Sheep (The Sheep Song)
Flamingo ('Steal Flamingoes and Gnomes from the dark side of the lawn')
A Leeds United Football player
An Army Man ( Guitar Hero)
A Half Man/Half Woman hybrid (Half Jack)

and a couple of others that may or many not turn out so I won't mention yet. I also plan to handwrite and decorate little bits of paper and wrap little song related gifts in them to place inside the puppets for people to find when people put them on.

I don't know if that strictly counts as creative or brigading per se but I shall be contributing that way !
