Every time I've been to London, I've only ever encountered insufferable twats. The stuck-up, posh kind.

Every Londoner I've met outside London has been a stuck-up twat.

I've never had a good time in London, despite visiting it many, many times.

London people, please tell me where I can meet nice London people who are not insufferable twats. I will be there this Tuesday, July 14th, to see Lady Gaga, and on Wednesday morning I make my way back to Cambridge. [I may also need crashspace, if anyone would be so kind as to offer it...] Places to go which are not twat-filled - tell me.

I've met a few nice people from london
but I really dislike the place...
don't worry tho Audrey I will venture to your city for you
but it smells, has too many rude people who seem to have
forgotten what politeness and not being all arghh raarr outof my way fool

I'm gonna spend 3 weeks attending a summer school in London, I've never been to England before, so I'm pretty apprehensive. Is it really that bad? :-\
Oh, and 2 quick questions for the Londoners on the board :
1) What's the weather really like? Cause I've heard all kinds of stories
2) How expensive is London? (in terms of food, entertainment, and so on)

@Rini: I'm not FROM Cambridge, I'm from Dublin. I'm spending the summer here, though. And yes, Cambs is also rather posh.

@Pope: I have a place to stay in London lined up, so that's not what I'm looking for. I really am looking to meet nice London people.

@sarah: Whilst I know this logically, it just seems odd that all of the Londoners I've met have been twats. Especially the people from Roehampton, who were truly obscene people.

1: mixed, but warmer in london than where I am appparently. rain, sun, mucho cloud, snow in winter

The best way to deal with twats is to laugh at them and be sly, like Johnny said, tripping the fuckers up.  I admit, a lot of people who were born and raised in London have some delusions of grandeur.

dont mind sarah shes from lancaster which is a stones throw from here.
People from this neck of the woods have an inbuilt dislike of the capitol.
Something to do with the delusions of grandure, the comments of it being grim up north and the fact they say that then own summer homes up here... sigh..

in other news when audrey came up north she couldnt get over how chilled relaxed and groovy everyone was here.... /WIN

Interestingly, for all the bad things I heard about the north of England, I've never met any stuck-up twats from up that way. And yes, they were much, much friendlier and more down-to-earth.

What's with that, England?
