The Mighty Boosh?
« on: July 11, 2009, 02:01:04 PM »

Just wondering if anybody's into this show?
I've been into it kind of on and off for 1,5 years. Went to London last December to see them live at the O2.
And FYI, I'm not one of those who are all "OMG NOEL FIELDING IS SEX ON LEGS", because... well, he can be a bit fit, but most of the time I just think he looks a bit funny. I'd guess he's about 25% human.

Heard they're working on a film now, that will be... interesting. I wonder if Boosh will work in that format, since they're used to their 30 minutes episodes...

I went to see them last year at the Olympia in Dublin. I enjoyed the show.

I haven't seen an actual episode of the Boosh in ages though. Mainly cos I don't have access to any, but I've seen them all at least once

I watched the Crack Fox episode earlier :)
Most enjoyable.

I hate the whole 'OMG NOEL FIELDING IS SOOOO HOT' thing though.
He looks like a glam rock witch in my opinion.

I need to see them live, but I never have the fundz. Agh.

hah, when Fielding was on Big fat Quiz of the Year some year, Jimmy Carr said he was the offspring of Rod Stewart and a raven. quite fitting.

I love his mind though. It must be a very strange place.

I live a Boosh friendly household. It is one of the few things my husband and I both really like and the kids love it too.

EELS

This.

 :icon_rr:

I hope they do another series.

I do think they could pull off a full-length film, though. Hope they do that too. I'm imagining a cross between 'Yellow Submarine' and 'Tommy'..

haha that would be absolutely amazing.

anybody seen pics from that film Fielding and Barratt are in? Bunny and the Bull. It seems insane, but I never expected anything less seeing as it is Paul King who's directing :P

I had no idea that Paul King is directing a movie with Fielding and Barratt in it. I'm obviously not as big of a fan as I used to. Fielding mostly annoys me these days.

I loved the first season and I liked the second... the third one was a bit meh.
I have my doubts about them making a movie but I hope they succeed.

---

I notice I seem to have problems dealing with shows taking dark turns (see the Torchwood thread). :/
Not that the third season of the Boosh was particularly dark, just darker.

mm yes but they just have supporting roles in Bunny and the Bull, as far as I've understood. It's the fellas who play "The Flighty Zeus" in that crimp episode from s3 who have the main characters.
there are some pics here http://www.channel4.com/film/reviews/film_gallery.jsp?id=173683&section=gallery

as for S3 of Boosh, I didn't like it much either. Not because it was darker, more because the dynamics of Howard and Vince had changed so much. The way they behaved, it didn't even feel like they were friends anymore at all. Vince has turned into such a bitch, and Howard is even more awkward than he used to. I hope it'll change with the film...

Was a hardcore boosh fan for years and in my manic youth managed to meet them all in completely ridiculous circumstances. Lovely bunch. They were amazing, back in the day!
Lost faith in Noel completely now.
Him and Dave (who is the loveliest man ever) DJed a party at my work. Noel got extremely coked up with my boss, and then didn't DJ but danced on a platform to a crowd of ridiculous OMG!NOELFEELDIN girls.

Add to that the fact that series 3 is rarely funny and most of the last tour was about how much Fielding could pretend he was a rockstar.
Is a real shame.
I just want to go back to the days when they did stand up and it was organic and funny.

Yeah, that's what bothered me the most too. Vince was turned into such a jerk and he was just plain mean towards Howard.
And come to think of it, I didn't mind the dark bits that much either (although I suppose you could say that they showed more of Vince's dark side). I think the Crack Fox, for example, was a pretty good character. At least it was new. I could've done without the shamans in season 3.

heh.
honestly, I'm kind of tired of Old Gregg having turned into somekind of a phenomenon of his own. I don't know how many times I've met people online or irl who start quoting Old Gregg, but then have no absolute clue that he's from Boosh. All the know is Old Gregg. I read about some person even having dressed up as Gregg for Halloween without knowing anything about Boosh. It's so weird. How can somebody see clips of Gregg and then NOT wanna check out the rest? insane.

It's not hot xD it's retarded and just... ugh :/
I ain't got that much of an accent though, compared to others at least, and I thank all the british tv I watch for that ;D
though obviously, since it's always inspired by what I happen to watch the most for the moment, it's all over the place. It was at its worst like last year I think, when I more or less watched huge amounts of Boosh, Torchwood and Life On Mars at the same time. Imagine an accent that's based on Swedish, but with dashes of london drawl, welsh and uhm... what, northern? Oh I even made myself laugh xD

oh the second live dvd is on it's way innit? so wanna see it! will be fun to see if the show they recorded was any different from the one I was at.

bit annoying that they've moved from a cult thing to super mega popular, and now they're taking over the US as well. I hope they won't burn out or something. Noel's partying himself to death, "and it ain't purrrrdy" - as Kodiak Jack would have said.

Oh! I have a hybrid accent too!
I am central scottish/cornish/cockney.
Too much being scottish/practicing doss accents/eastenders when I was young, I think.

Mmm. All my friends went to see them, I was mega jealous. Still am tbh. Can't wait for the dvd though, from the way they described the show it sounds even better than the first one :D

And I know :(
There was a time when you couldn't walk through Perth without hearing 'I'M OL' GREEEEGGGGGG' at least twice *shudders*
It's better now though, but I miss the days where I could quote Boosh at people and they thought I was coming up with it myself. Haha.

I'd love to live somewhere in the UK for a while, if nothing else just to stabilize my accent a bit xD

I often write "I'm Old Gregg" with ballpoint pen on random public toilet doors all around sweden. it amuses me, because they're still so obscure here nobody will ever know what it means.

mm yeah I wanna hear the thing about Tuesday = bumming day ;D

also, none of my fandoms can escape my photoshop. it's the truth. I love drawing Noel, he's got such a fun face :3

Haha, I've lived here all my life and mines is all over the shop, so I doubt coming here'd help you much ;)
Still come though. It's doss.

The best ever bit of toilet graffiti I ever ever ever saw was this massive paragraph and set of diagrams about stumpfucking in a public toilet in Inverness. I used to have a photo of it but my old laptop died and took it with it.

And that drawing is GENIUS. It just sums him up perfectly :D

I've got into this kick ass school in south sweden now, and part of it is internships, and we can pretty much go wherever we want in the world. I'm seriously going to UK! ;D Maybe not London, it's a bit too big for my taste, but yeah. We'll see where I end up!
and talking about accents, one of the guys here is Irish, but he pretty much speaks american xD it's hilarious.

haha oh that's perfect.
I wanna write something about all the tiny animal penises! or one of Fossil's note-to-self. or make some up.

You don't wanna go to London though, it turns your snot black, the air is so filthy  :o
Go to Wales. The have doss accents and you can pretend you're in Torchwood. Good times.
And my best friend is Irish but sounds American!
It's funny as feck.

Note to self: get an eye patch.

Ooh doss!
You don't wanna go to London though, it turns your snot black, the air is so filthy  :o
Go to Wales. The have doss accents and you can pretend you're in Torchwood. Good times.
And my best friend is Irish but sounds American!
It's funny as feck.

Note to self: I hate whites
 :D
Yeah, I've already experienced the black snot of London, thankyouverymuch xD Never been there for longer than a week, don't think I'd stand it, tbqh.
I actually HAVE considered Wales! Cardiff seems just the right size for me, it would be lovely. And the accent is hilarious, I'd love to speak like that xD.
Mmmmm yes it would be epic to actually have a look around town and see what places I could recognize from Torchwood :3

People with "wrong" accents kinda do mess with your head, don't they? I mean, I was pretty excited when I found out that there was an Irish fella amongst us, but actually got a little disappointed when he opened his mouth xD What's the point of being Irish if you don't get the accent? ;D His sister is Morgana on Merlin though, so he's still cool.

Note to self: don't use super glue as chap stick.

I love Cardiff.
I've only spent a day there, but it's amazingly nice.

Oooh. Cool. Wrong accents annoy me. Said the serpent to the snake... haha.

okay so totally the wrong thread for this but what the hell. I've got such a Torchwood craving atm! D: I should have dragged out on last week's episodes longer, but I didn't wanna wait in fear of getting it all spoiled D: There are book too though, aren't there? seriously considering buying some.

RIGHT.
BACK TO BOOSH.

I discovered Boosh in such a weird way. As I've said before, pretty much nobody here know of them at all. I was randomly browsing around youtube, looking at videos featuring one of my fav bands (The Ark). All of a sudden, there is a glimpse of something that I'm certain isn't Ark, but well fucking looks like it could be. It's Vince Noir. And I'm hooked.
It was one of those "lyrics heard wrong" videos, and Vince came from absolutely NOWHERE and I had NO idea of what was going on. but I loved it.

I think I even favved the video for later... hang on.. damn, seems like it's been deleted D:

I just cannot bring myself to like this show.
A couple of my friends absolutely love it, and they forced me to watch it one day. I didn't feel like watching it at the time, plus I was in a bad mood, so I pretty much hated every moment of it. Halfway way through it, I wandered off to do the dishes.
I decided standing in the kitchen with my hands in dirty dish water was more interesting.

I've copped a lot of harsh words for my feelings on this show, but I'm going to stand by them, damn it!

my experience with Boosh is that it takes a couple of episodes before you actually like it. In the beginning I didn't understand a damn thing and didn't think it was funny at all, just weird and stupid. And then, somehow, it grew on me, and before I knew it I was stuck.

not saying it's the same for you, just sayin it can take time.

but yeah, it's not for everyone, I get that.

^^ this.

Give a few episodes a go.
If that doesn't work, track down the first live show.
The 'Pies' bit has never failed to make someone laugh when I've shown it to them.

I think I'm also just being stubborn. I was forced to watch it when I didn't want to, so now my brain's all like "Ha! I'll show you what forcing me to watch a show will do. I'm now going to forever hate it! And there's nothing you can do about it! Mwahahaha!"

He is tubby now. Maybe it's because him and Chris no longer chill, meaning he doesn't have anyone to remind him that 'eating is cheating' :P

what CeeCee forgot to point out to Noel was that it's only small children that are apropriate for eating, not teenagers and young adults, those will just make you fat.

it saddens me that the whole clusterfuck is kind of... split :/
are Noel and Dee even together anymore? Sun said thay'd split, but I never believe a word that paper writes, and I haven't seen it mentioned anywhere else, so...

EATING IS CHOCOLATE

yup, that's me :3 and sure, add if you wanna.

He might've got confused.  Teh Geldofs are practically children.

They have split off a bit haven't they :(
As far as I know, Noel is still under the command of MegaDee. Though she is not going with him to america.
I dunno.
I'm helping out with some RiD admin this summer, but it's more than my jobs worth to ask. :/

I've recently found myself obsessed with the show. I was first introduced to it at last year's Dragon*con in Atlanta. Funny stuff. I love their solo stand up too. I'm working on a portrait of Noel now. So far, I don't think it looks much like him, but it's the best I could do.

Julian is next if I can ever get the patience.

The Angle of his face is off. I put the pictures side by side and voila! there's the problem.

His eye is humungo though, but there's nothing I can do about it now.

Thankies for the compliments by the way. ^_^
