The Mighty Boosh?
« on: July 11, 2009, 02:01:04 PM »

Just wondering if anybody's into this show?
I've been into it kind of on and off for 1,5 years. Went to London last December to see them live at the O2.
And FYI, I'm not one of those who are all "OMG NOEL FIELDING IS SEX ON LEGS", because... well, he can be a bit fit, but most of the time I just think he looks a bit funny. I'd guess he's about 25% human.

Heard they're working on a film now, that will be... interesting. I wonder if Boosh will work in that format, since they're used to their 30 minutes episodes...

I went to see them last year at the Olympia in Dublin. I enjoyed the show.

I haven't seen an actual episode of the Boosh in ages though. Mainly cos I don't have access to any, but I've seen them all at least once

I watched the Crack Fox episode earlier :)
Most enjoyable.

I hate the whole 'OMG NOEL FIELDING IS SOOOO HOT' thing though.
He looks like a glam rock witch in my opinion.

I need to see them live, but I never have the fundz. Agh.

hah, when Fielding was on Big fat Quiz of the Year some year, Jimmy Carr said he was the offspring of Rod Stewart and a raven. quite fitting.

I love his mind though. It must be a very strange place.

I live a Boosh friendly household. It is one of the few things my husband and I both really like and the kids love it too.

EELS

This.

 :icon_rr:

I hope they do another series.

I do think they could pull off a full-length film, though. Hope they do that too. I'm imagining a cross between 'Yellow Submarine' and 'Tommy'..

haha that would be absolutely amazing.

anybody seen pics from that film Fielding and Barratt are in? Bunny and the Bull. It seems insane, but I never expected anything less seeing as it is Paul King who's directing :P

I had no idea that Paul King is directing a movie with Fielding and Barratt in it. I'm obviously not as big of a fan as I used to. Fielding mostly annoys me these days.

I loved the first season and I liked the second... the third one was a bit meh.
I have my doubts about them making a movie but I hope they succeed.

---

I notice I seem to have problems dealing with shows taking dark turns (see the Torchwood thread). :/
Not that the third season of the Boosh was particularly dark, just darker.

mm yes but they just have supporting roles in Bunny and the Bull, as far as I've understood. It's the fellas who play "The Flighty Zeus" in that crimp episode from s3 who have the main characters.
there are some pics here http://www.channel4.com/film/reviews/film_gallery.jsp?id=173683&section=gallery

as for S3 of Boosh, I didn't like it much either. Not because it was darker, more because the dynamics of Howard and Vince had changed so much. The way they behaved, it didn't even feel like they were friends anymore at all. Vince has turned into such a bitch, and Howard is even more awkward than he used to. I hope it'll change with the film...

Was a hardcore boosh fan for years and in my manic youth managed to meet them all in completely ridiculous circumstances. Lovely bunch. They were amazing, back in the day!
Lost faith in Noel completely now.
Him and Dave (who is the loveliest man ever) DJed a party at my work. Noel got extremely coked up with my boss, and then didn't DJ but danced on a platform to a crowd of ridiculous OMG!NOELFEELDIN girls.

Add to that the fact that series 3 is rarely funny and most of the last tour was about how much Fielding could pretend he was a rockstar.
Is a real shame.
I just want to go back to the days when they did stand up and it was organic and funny.

yeah. I know exactly what you mean.
Noel believes too much in his own hype.

Yeah, that's what bothered me the most too. Vince was turned into such a jerk and he was just plain mean towards Howard.
And come to think of it, I didn't mind the dark bits that much either (although I suppose you could say that they showed more of Vince's dark side). I think the Crack Fox, for example, was a pretty good character. At least it was new. I could've done without the shamans in season 3.
