I can't get over the fact that people other than my mum fancy Alan Rickman.... He is an incredible actor though - and completely perfect for Snape.

I'm re-reading the books from PoA onwards - no point reading the first two as I kind of know them inside out and backwards and didn't like them nearly as much as the others. But it's just reminding me of why I loved them so much when I was little - as many of you know, I'm something of an obsessive person, and get hooked on things really badly, and Harry Potter was the first of these obsessions xD Closely followed by Lord Of The Rings and the Clash ^.^

I can't believe how young I was when I started reading them though - I thought I was about 11, but my copy of PoA's hardback and has "Helen, Y3" written in it, so I was at least 7 when that came out.

Alan Rickman was the reason I read the damn HP books in the first place.

Been obsessed with him for about a decade. Took my Mum to see him on stage in 'Private Lives' back in.. 2001? Maaaan...

and i love snape, too. not just because alan rickman plays him in the movies. i liked snape since i started reading the books. the fact that alan plays him is just... proof that there really is a god? lol

As an educated, fairly intelligent 40-something, I am obviously unable to figure this out,
so maybe one of you younger 'Boxers can explain something to me:

In a world of super-powerful ancient magic, where evil mastermind Lord Voldersomething battles wise Dumbledore
and his allies, masters of good magic...  how does it happen that puzzles and traps built to thwart powerful
highly-experienced wizards and witches are undone (time and time again) by a couple of pre-teen n00bz, one
of whom has only known that magic even exists for a couple of years?  ...usually after five whole minutes
or less of serious thought, and never with any particular advance preparation?




[Mind you. I quite enjoyed all of the books, and the movies so far have been ok...]

Could it be because Harry really is The Chosen One?

I was disappointed in the movie, sort of. I mean, I guess I didn't expect a lot from it, so I wasn't really disappointed, but I was not impressed. It felt like they really did skim over the whole story in order to get to the end. The only parts that felt like real-time were the love bits, which were awkward and funny, but not crucial to the plot of the overarching story. I've heard the term HP:"Degrassi Edition" batted about.
