i have to take next saturday off for my party. what is a good excuse for when i call in sick??

Just don't go - tap into your natural innocent charm when they ask where you were and be all like, "Oh my God! I'm so sorry - I thought I wasn't working this weekend!" Go into over-drive with the apologising, look all flustered and completely horrified that you left them in the lurch. Make your eyes all big and, if you can, Get Posh - do all your shalls and you-and-I's properly and change your accent to a southern English one. Works for me xD

I would just call day of and try to sound hoarse. Give them an "I'm really not feeling well. I don't think I can come to work." It's what I do. They don't need details about your sickness.

Or - FAMILY CRISIS!! They NEVER ask for details on a family crisis. Just mumble it when you phone the next day saying you're sorry. Try and sound traumatised. (This is a method I usually reserve for people who know me too well to be taken in by my previous tack xD)

also, Anna, they're really strict about taking sick days, I'll need to fill in a form
Anyway, I think it's going to have to be vomiting. Cos, it's icky, they don't want me to vomit all over the clothes and then I can be fine the next day, just look a little tired (which isn't going to be hard). AND if they see me in town, I can tell them I was feeling a little better so I went into town to get food/medicine. lollll
